Questions / Cannot find back: how to split a cdimage file into separate tracks

Hi,

I have done it, some time ago, but now can not find back how I did it:
Split a full album from a cd image file into separate tracks.
I thought I had to send it to format converter, but there I get lost.
Forum search and wiki do not give the proper search result.
Any reminder, please?

Questions / Cannot install version .7525 & have savings trouble

Hi,

Trying to find a solution for my long time ongoing saving trouble, I found the latest update .7525, downloaded it and tried to install it.
But it fails - version 3.3.7491 stays active. How come?

The saving problem:
While editing it often happens that an orange exclamation mark shows 'something' needs my attention.
If I save the edited file, it often goes without any problem, but more than occasionally the result is that I have TWO identical (looking) files: one with all my edit updates, one missing one or more tag updates.
If I want to play one of them, it is just a guess, which one works?
The one that does NOT work says: cannot find this file at the expected location.

I cannot find what I am doing wrong, what is the solution.
Nor do I know if I am the only MB-user with this problem.

I had hoped the new version .7525 would have corrected any related issue, but if I am not able to make it run - then what to do?

Questions / Saving problems when editing tracks while playing them

Hi,

When I need to edit newly imported tracks I more and more get a warning (orange exclamation mark) and error (file cannot be found at expected location). Often very difficult to SAVE the newly edited information, including artwork.
Often I need to quit MB, restart, then see my file twice and one of them is 'empty'. Not playable.
The other one is. Must save it. Then ok.

What can I do to avoid this way around?

Questions / AutoDJ not working properly (repeated)

Hi,

Not sure if this is an older issue, i just came across it today.
My AutoDJ works fine, with a proper filter and a column PLAYING TRACKS (DJ)

But...
If I open a TAB with the AutoDJ i can change my selections, but I never see a preview of the selected tracks.
How come?

Questions / No TagTools.PropNamesErrorLog.txt found...

Hello,

Retagging all my classical tracks after a big mess I get a warning without result.
Some tags seem to be duplicated - and I am advised to check details at TagTools.PropNamesErrorLog.txt
But that file is empty.
 
Earlier I had a similar experience with errorlog.dat - which is still ongoing: it is always empty.

How to make those files 'active'?

And how to check which tags are duplicates?

Questions / Cannot find my errorlog.dat file

Hello,

Struggling with various errors I need to rescan MB quite often these days. In the end I sometimes (not always) get the message that errors were found and I am advised to look in errorlog.dat.

But that notepad file is always empty.
When searching for a file with the same name I find one, a few days old, with this address:

C:\Users\Wim Van Kuijk\AppData\Local\Packages\50072StevenMayall.MusicBee_kcr266et74avj

How to directly address the active errorlog file?
Or create a working one?

Questions / Help retagging my classical tracks with TXXX/TEMPORARY tag

Hello,

After lots of trouble (both with my library/tags and with my health) I am a bit back on my feet again, looking for fresh startover help.
My collection of classical music has been messed up tagwise completely and with every new help post idea that I tried to follow it got worse.
The amount of work I invested in the past in my personalized classical tag system required around 200 hours of developing and finetuning - and the actual tagging/editing took 6-7 hundreds of hours... And for a several years it worked perfectly.
That is why I do not like to start all over and start from scratch.

It looks that the INVOLVED PEOPLE LIST tag in a later phase has mixed up my tags - no idea how.
If you wish: see some drama in my previous posts.

But maybe this recent find in my tag inspector is more helpful - if a way can be found to get old existing tags be displayed properly again, get them restored:
It seems that the tag inspector still contains ALL my messed up performers in a correct way, but under an unknown tag: TXXX/TEMPORARY.
Wherever I had given my performers separate tags for Vocals - Vocals,more - Instrumentals - Choir - Orchestra - Conductor - the correct names DO still exists, but not in any displayed separate field. Only in the TagInspector labeled TXXX/TEMPORARY.

My main question at the moment: can I do anything helpful with that tag type?
How to show the content in any field? How should I create the appropriate (performer category) field again?
Currently the fields do exist - but have no content.

I hardly understand anything about tagging, let alone cleaning up a mess.
I have no single idea where to begin...
Anyone willing to take me by the hand?
Maybe even with PM and/or TeamViewer?

Questions / How to rename my 'conductor' track back...

Long ago I renamed one of my 'common field' names: changed CONDUCTOR into STATUS REMARK - which ONLY worked in the set displayed fields list...
So it never worked as I had expected.
Now I want to rename it back.
But whatever I do I can not.
When I go to the CUSTOM TAG list and rename the STATUS REMARK back to CONDUCTOR it is not acceptable: duplicate tag. If I make a slight difference CONDUCTOR+ it is accepted - but displayed in the status remark column.
The CONDUCTOR field cannot be found anywhere to rename it - in the past it was possible.

 
Do I overlook anything?
Any suggestion?

Bug Reports / Conductor field label can not (completely) be overridden

Especially to customize the way I like to handle classical music I renamed various fields in Tag and Tag2 tabs.
I have 2 problems. See my separate post about the MIXED issue.

In this current post I try to describe the other (complicated) issue:

In Tag1 tab I could override the field labels to my liking - except one: CONDUCTOR.
I gave it the name STATUS REMARK for editing purposes (example: 'SPLIT' or 'CHECK')
Apparently the renaming was accepted: in the main panel a column called STATUS REMARK displays the content.

But in the EDIT panel, the field still has the label CONDUCTOR - which in itself is a strange but minor problem. It can NOT be renamed.

Recently the problem became bigger - a few months ago.
1.
All of a sudden all my CONDUCTORS (which I had manually entered in my own conductor  field in tag2 tab) were moved from my personalized conductor field to the OVERWRITTEN conductor field (and the related STATUS REMARK column) in the tag1 tab. The conductors were ADDED to the existing editing remarks in that field. How? Not by me...
2.
Most other customized fields in tag2 tab were suddenly empty.
3.
Their contents were (still) in the 'export field' used to merge all PERFORMERS - but with 3 mistakes:
3.1. Often the separators ; were replaced by : (without space)
3.2. After a few trials to find out what was wrong the complete content of the field PERFORMERS was multiplied: John:Peter:Susan; John:Peter:Susan; John:Peter;Susan. Up to 10 repeats...
3.3. See my separate post about this one > The PERFORMERS field shows the greyed texed MIXED in multiple track selections, whereas the selected items are identical.

I hope I could explain the trouble well.

Bug Reports / In multiple track selections identical fields show as MIXED

Hello Steven and others,

My problem in brief:
My customized fields PERFORMERS (and others) show greyed MIXED upon multiple selections - also if the content is NOT mixed, but exactly the same for all individual tracks.

I use the tab tag2 for customized fields for classical music.
Separate fields for vocalists, instrumentalists, choir, orchestra, conductor.
In the end I create (with ASR) a combination 'export' field PERFORMERS where all previous interpreters come together.

Since some time there is a strange error in those fields.
If I have (example) an opera with 25 tracks and I fill in ALL 25 track fields with the same info and then 'export' all of them to PERFORMERS, the performers field does NOT show the identical content for all interpreters, but says MIXED - which is incorrect because ALL are the same.
This happens with the individual fields as well (vocalists, instrumentalists etc).

That makes multiple checking/editing very complicated, because you can not SEE any details in the field. Must open 1 by 1, change, copy to the 24 other tracks if necessary 1 by 1.

Can you check this phenomenon please?

Questions / cannot reinstall MY musicbee

Hello all,

During my recent holiday trip my IT-technician took my pc home for a full new installation of Windows 10. He also installed a number of main programs, including MusicBee. But only the basic unpersonalized one.
Now I am home HE is gone travelling - for a few months and hardly reachable.

Please help me to re-install my own version of MusicBee. I do have ALL the userfiles of my previous installation, including the
Dark Night theme and my own layout.

But when I download the latest MB version and try to install it, Windows says it cannot write on C....
Never came across that error before.
What to do?
And after that: where to locate my latest version before the reinstallation?

Questions / Can I associate/integrate XMPlayer with MusicBee?

Hello,

I notice quite a big difference between my favorite simple audioplayer XMPlayer and the player MB uses.
XM has a much more dynamic and colorful sound - and the volume limit is significantly higher.

Is there an option to replace the MB audioplayer with an external one (XMPlayer)?
How to do that?

In the preferences tabs I see an option to add an external videoplayer. But not for audio.
And I do not understand how to change the audio options.

Questions / Music Mystery: copied music disappears from MMC over and over...

Hello,

The following Music Mystery has probably NOTHING to do with MusicBee - but I have no clue what else cause the trouble. Maybe somesone here has an idea.

After I bought a new music player (FIIO) I bought a new SanDisk 128gb micro-sd MMC for my 200 playlists.
I started copying all the content of the selection made from inside MB to that MMC.

And whatever I try: in the beginning all is ok. But after around 40 playlist folders are filled, the next ones totally disappear. That is: in the beginning all seems ok, but the next day all tracks are gone. Not deleted, because nothing found in the recycle bin.
The affected folders are labeled 'empty' and the properties show 0 bytes.
But...
If I want to copy them AGAIN, from my pc, the message says: not enough space...
Then I formatted the MMC a few times and started all over.
But the whole Music Mystery then starts all over as well: same neverending trouble.

The MMC is brandnew and SanDisk has a good reputation. Could the MMC still be the trouble?
Chkdsk did not find any disk error.

Or could the trouble be the result of errors in my recently installed Windows 10 (upgrade from W7) with problematic file/copy management features??

Suggestions highly appreciated.

Questions / Error message after re-installation on new system.

Hi,
Since I upgraded to Windows 10 there was no problem in the beginning, thanks to settings export > import in W10.
But now, suddenly, the ' start when windows starts '  (MB in startupfolder) suddenly does not want to work.

I get this error message:

The only thing I understand in this message is: MusicBeeBass.dll
I checked MB installation and that file is NOT missing.
So no idea what I should do to get smooth start back.

The only feature that malfunctions is the auto-start

Bug Reports / Mystery or bug? - album cd-1 (newly added/edited) gone while adding cd-2

Hi,

I bring up 3 issues here that COULD be related. Not sure at all. Bugs, my mistake or a mystery?
1. Newly added/edited/played cd disappeared completely!
2. After adding artwork sometimes the files cannot be saved: error message
3. The descending order of 'date added' column is incorrect

1.
Adding a newly downloaded Vivaldi album took a LOT of work, because of many missing tags. After I had finally added and edited cd-1 of the album I played it. All was ok. Then I added cd-2, also with missing tags. after adding the artwork the files could not been saved, error message 'file not found on location'. File add/rescan did not find a solution. I closed MB and restarted it.
Very strange result: the cd-2 with the artwork I had just tried to add was there. With the pic.
But...
The complete cd-1 was gone. Not only from the library, but also from the pc, even from the backups on 2 external hard drives.
I searched all on a cd keyword 'stravaganza' with Search Everything app, but ONLY cd-2 was found. Anywhere!
This is beyond my logical understanding...

2.
It happens more often that batch editing of a file leads to saving trouble. Especially if you edit files while PLAYING one of them. Usually the problem is solved after a restart and add/rescan. But not always.

3.
Since a few months/versions already the DATE ADDED column is not functioning correctly. If I click the descending sort order the DAYS are correct, but the TIME not at all. I expect clock time 23.59 on top and 19.58 and 11.11 and 00.01 all lower. But the sort order can randomly be (downwards) 19.58 > 00.01 > 11.11 > 23.59. How come?
