Questions / Display Fields as Album Sum Combined Playcount
« on: February 04, 2022, 11:13:07 AM »
I want a column that shows the Play Count of the Entire Album in Sum. It adds all of the Play Counts of every Song for the Entire Album. It would also follow that the Play Count of the actual album would have it's own column.

For example: 10 songs on the album, I only listen to 1 song on the album, this means I have not listened to the entire album so it would show a count of 0. It would increment only once when every track on the album has been played.

So even if I listened to the entire 10 songs 1 time, but listened to 1 of the songs 10 times, it would still only show a count of 1 total for entire album listened.

It wouldn't let me post screenshots directly, so I made some links:

Album Play Count: this column would show aggregate Play counts for all songs on the album, regardless of album playthrough.

Actual Album Play Count: this column would, in effect, show the song with the lowest Playcount on the album.

I have tried using the Tagging Tools > Auto Library Reports method that was suggested here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/musicbee/comments/6xkets/help_sorting_by_play_count_but_keeping_album/]
but that was not the solution, or at least I could not get it to work in this fashion.

Questions / Playlist Explorer Search function?
« on: June 13, 2021, 07:43:14 AM »
So I really feel like I have to be missing something really obvious, but is there a way to search for playlists using the Playlist Explorer functionality? For example, I have hundreds of playlists and I only seem to be able to scroll through them until I find the one I am looking for. I can rename them to have some kind of order like "1. Rock, 2. Metal, etc", but maybe but I want to know if I have a playlist called "Hip Hop" already created. Is there a way to use the search bar to search just the titles of your playlists? If not, hopefully I am not alone in thinking this would be a great feature. Thanks!

Portable Devices / Changing the name of SD card causing Syncing issues
« on: February 18, 2019, 10:42:21 PM »
I looked and haven't found a similar issue. This has happened to me in the past but my workaround doesn't seem to work. I just updated to the newest MB today to see if that helped as well.

Basically, I have an SD card that was formatted and Synced to MB last night. Then today, I changed the name from SANDISK256 to a name I would remember (changed this in Windows Properties). Now, MB won't sync to it. I read the instructions on how to edit the MB ini file in the Roaming folder to manually rename the Device and Device ID, but this also has not worked (this worked for me last time too).

I have tried: deleting the .mbl and .dat file for the old name of the device, deleted the .bak setting file (which I assume is a temp file?) and also restarted MB.

What happens now, is MB recognizes it as a "new" device, but when I click Sync, it is stuck at "Scanning Device" and makes no progress. After I gave up, I decided to leave it there for a while to see if maybe it takes it a while since it is 256GB, but it has been close to an hour. I know I am close but just have to be missing something. I can post my settings files or the Device part of the code to see if there are any ideas.

I also did delete the old Devices from the .ini file after renaming it, hoping that MB would start fresh. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Also, this is not an MTP device or a phone, just a normal SD card.

Questions / MB not updating/auto organizing folders
« on: July 14, 2018, 11:24:48 AM »

I have version 3.2.6760 and updated and closed out of the program etc. I noticed recently (this week) that when I am renaming an artists album, the file is not being moved to the new folder. For example: when i have a new song on an album that is not named yet, I tag it as "TBD" meaning to be determined. So the song I had here from Chelsea Grind called Dead Rose was from months ago before they said the album would be called Eternal Nightmare. So I had it in the album called TBD. i have changed all the tags and everything to Eternal Nightmare, however, MB is not moving the Dead Rose song file from TBD to Eternal Nightmare, even though the program shows it appropriately tagged in Eternal Nightmare.

Screenshots as well. I have always had MB settings to auto organize the library, so I think there could be a bug or issue in those settings or code or w/e.

I have always used the Inbox feature to avoid issues like this. I use it when I have new songs I drop them in the Inbox, tag them accordingly and then actually add them to the MB Library, which has never had an issue. Once the songs are in the library, if i have ever made changes, they would be auto/organized by MB accordingly. Let me know your thoughts. I am thinking maybe a new update or something got messed up? Thanks!

I am not able to reproduce any issues with the auto-organise functionality, and that includes editing the file tags in the Inbox (which wont get auto-organised) and then moving the file to the library (which does cause the file to be auto-organised).
Its not functionality that has been touched for a long time and not something i can recall anyone reporting as an issue, so i will leave this unsolved.
You dont show your auto-organise template. So if i want further help i suggest you set up a Questions topic

Just curious but if I had an idea and were willing to pay you to develop it, like in Patreon, or just through Paypal or whatever, if that something you are open to? Or are you focused on specific releases and fixes and features you are adding in?

Questions / Moved my library to a new drive, but now, playlists won't work
« on: February 21, 2018, 02:57:52 PM »
Yeah so I should have exported all my playlists before moving my library but I didnt think of it. For some reason, I can't find anything recent either, because I update my playlists daily. I tried a system restore on windows 7 and it didn't help. So I was able to use my backup harddrive from like a month ago which has all the playlists, just not up to date. But the problem is, now it is saying that the file cannot be found and is asking if I want to locate it. Well, the Music library works just fine obviously if I play the song, it knows it is on the new drive. But I am guessing these old playlists are mapped to my old drive and I don't know how to edit them or anything like that. If anyone has been through this issue then please let me know, i am dying!

I also get an error as well:

Questions / Windows 7 crashed, trying to restore MB Settings and Playlists
« on: December 20, 2017, 01:08:14 PM »
Ok, I am an IT guy and I feel quite stupid at this point. My motherboard crashed so I had to reinstall Windows 7 and I kept all of the roaming app data for MusicBee, but for some reason, it isn't quite restoring all of the correct settings. For example: my playlists, I have duplicates of and/or missing. I have MB settings and backup files but I am not sure how to restore them. My CP crashed around 12/7 and the roaming data is up to date, but whenever I restore MB, it is only restoring music from 10/17. Also, the Date Added tags [which I use to make sure all my music is up to date] are all restoring at today's date of 12/20. Steven, I will happily pay you if you can help me figure this out, because I am losing my mind, bc I am a music junkie and my life is sadly built around MB :D

Bug Reports / New Playlist issue with the most current upgrade of MB
« on: June 20, 2017, 11:19:19 PM »
I never had issues syncing my playlists to my device on its main drive path (for example F:\). Now what seems to be occurring is that MB will not recognize that as a valid file path and will fail to sync. If I try to leave the playlists path blank, it will copy correctly. But, what ends up happening, is the setting in MB do not save this blank setting upon restarting the program or anything like that, and it will default to a file path called "Playlists\", from which my device is unable to read the playlist format. I have tried using relative file paths, and not using relative file paths, but either way, it doesn't seem to fix the issue of MB reverting back to the Playlists path, rather than the blank aka F:\ path. Any ideas? If I didn't explain this correctly, let me know and I can try and post a video or something. Thanks!

This image shows what my drive looks like with the additional Playlist folder that MB auto creates, but should not. Note the other playlists are on the drive how they should/have always been.

This is how MB looks when it does sync the playlists straight to the F drive as usual. These settings will not save if I close MB, and will revert to the Playlists path as seen in the next picture.

This is the Playlists path that auto completes whenever I restart MB

Thanks in advance. I know this is probably a tricky issue. I literally never had any problems with syncing straight to my device (which is the only way it can read playlists) until the most recent update, if that gives you any clues as to what is going on.

Questions / MusicBee deleted some of my music??
« on: October 21, 2016, 10:29:26 PM »
So I just tried playing a certain album in my library and it says source track can not be found. I go into Windows Explorer and it is missing from the folder. In fact a lot of the album tracks are missing. I have not moved my library or any files and I certainly did not delete these songs. I even listened to them a few weeks ago. I am wondering if there is a way to search musicbee for missing tracks so I can see what else it has deleted. I am pretty upset because now I have to get all these songs again because I don't think i have a backup. Any ideas what could have possibly happened?
