Assume I have a playlist which evolved over the recent years to now around 800 entries. All songs are added as *.mp3 files from one folder.

Unfortunately the number of items in Playlist is smaller than the number of files in the corresponding folder.
So I must have (accidentally) not added some *.mp3 files or deleted some playlist items later.

How can I find out easily which files are NOT added?

Bug Reports / Different titel MusicBee vs. MP3Tag
« on: April 02, 2023, 02:55:16 PM »
I have here a strange problem.

Since a few weeks I observed occasionally (!) for some songs a difference between the title shown in MusicBee and the title show in the wide spread, well know MP3tag tool.

Have a look at the attached snapshots.

Why are there different "Title" values?

https://i.postimg.cc/fWqSmvg5/Music-Bee-view.png

and

https://i.postimg.cc/sXD1ZBYt/MP3tag-view.png

According to MP3Tag the values are retrieved from an ID3v2.3 Tag header

Where can I see if this is the same TAG header version like the one MusicBee uses?
Possibly MusicBee retrieves the values from another brother Tag header with older version

Questions / How to convert mp3 filename to IDv3v2.3 fields?
« on: January 09, 2022, 06:54:12 PM »
I have lots of *.mp3 files which I assigned to several playlists in Musicbee.

The mp3 filenames follow the pattern

<artist name><blank ><dash><blank><title>

Now I want to let Musicbee read these file names (only of the marked songs in playlists), cut them into meaning tokens and store them in the corresponding fields of the (possibly present) ID3v2.3 header. All header fields beside artist and title should be unchanged.

How can I achieve this?

In the past I defined in Library--->"monitored folders" a folder which does not exist any more.

How can I remove this entry?

I miss a "delete" button.

Furthermore I miss a "monitor folder tree recursively" checkbox which let me define only the top node of a directory tree to let MB monitor everything inside.

Currently I have to specify ALL folders as separated entries.

Is "recursive" flag somehow possible? Or can this feature be added in the next release?

BTW: the monitored folder textbox shows only 2 lines at a time. Resizing is not possible and scrolling difficult.
Can this monitored folder list text entryfield by enlarged to lets say at least 5 lines?

When i right-click on a playlist and select context menu

"SendTo"--->"Folder (Copy)"--->"Copy files to Folder"

then the files are always automatically copied WITH the preceding number and a dash.

How can I copy them WITH omitting the number and the dash?

Assume I have a MP3 file added to a playlist with the filename

The Walls Of The World.mp3

If I change this file name now to (mind the char cases):

The walls of the world.mp3

does this matter in the MB Music Library?
In other words are MP3 filenames case sensitive in MB Music Library?

Similar question:

If I replace the MP3 file mentioned above with another file with exactly the same filename (but slightly different content)
does this matter in MB Music library?

Or is the new file silently replaced by the new in all internal MB Music Library entries?

Questions / Get number of marked songs in playlist?
« on: August 23, 2021, 03:57:15 PM »
Is there really no way to find out the number of marked songs in playlist?

I expected a corresponding  info in top MB window bar or in right click context menu similar to "74 songs marked/selected"

Questions / Sort a playlist by "Artist" column ignores "The" prefix
« on: August 23, 2021, 03:54:01 PM »
When I sort a playlist by the column "Artist" then the word "The" is ignored by Musicbee.

So "The Common Linnets"  is treated as if the Artist is named "Common Linnets".

Is there a way to force MB to consider "The" too?

If I mark (all/some) songs from a playlist, then right click and select context menu

Send To--->Folder (Copy)

I can copy all these files to an external directory.

It works.
But all these *.mp3 file names have a leading number followed by a dash.

How can I prevent auto-numbering.

The file names should be the same as in the original folder

Questions / How to open and play external (!) *.m3u playlist in MB?
« on: July 23, 2021, 03:27:50 PM »
I have a directory with some *.mp3 files and a corresponding *.m3u playlist in an external windows directory (outside of MB).

Now I right click on the *.m3u playlist file and select "Open with" and the MusicBee player.

MB is opened but shows an error popup for all *.mp3 files:

"File aaa.mp3 not found"

Hmm, the file aaa.mp3 is in the same directory as the *.m3u file.
So the *.mp3 path should be interpreted relative to the  *.m3u file and hence MB should find the files.

Why is this not the case?

In general I assigned logically one MB playlist (e.g.  "mypop") to exactly one certain directory (e.g. D:\music\pop\)

So all *.mp3 files in this directory (should) appear in playlist "mypop"

When I remove a *.mp3 file in Windows Explorer then MB automatically removes it (after some seconds) from playlist.
Good.

However I miss the opposite auto-operation: If I add/copy a new *.mp3 into directory in Windows Explorer then this new song
should be automatically added to the corresponding assigned playlist.

As far as I can see this feature is not implemented yet.

Can this be added in the next release?

Thank you

Questions / one time export of Playlist as *.m3u?
« on: June 28, 2021, 06:44:57 AM »
Assume I setup a playlist and let it be exported automatically in *.m3u8 format into exported playlist folder.

It works.

However sometimes I need the same playlist in *.m3u format.
For that I need a way to export the current playlist in this different format.

I guess just renaming *.m3u8 into *.m3u could cause troubles.

The "export" context menu does not offer *.m3u as output format.

So how else can I export the current playlist as *.m3u?

As far as I can  users can setup/enable file associations AND Windows Explorer context menus or disable BOTH.

I prefer to enable file associations but NOT context menus.
My context menus should NOT get crowded by too many programs.
I hardly ever use MBs context menus.

MB is the only program I know so far which forces users to setup BOTH or NONE.

Can MB split the both options in the next release resp. version.

Unfortunately when I change the sort order in one playlist it is automatically changed in all other playlist as well.
Same with grouping.

I would to have different sort orders and different groupings for different playlist.

Even a custom view does not store it.

So what is need are two new checkboxes in dialog pane for Playlist settings:
- Use current sort order as default for current playlist
- Use current grouping as default for current playlist

Alternatively a custom view should store these settings.

Can this be implemented?

Questions / Numbering criteria in playlists? How to Re-number?
« on: December 27, 2020, 10:50:11 AM »
According to which criteria are numbers (in number column) assign to songs in a playlist?

How can I re-number the songs ascending according to the order in which they are currently displayed in playlist?
