Questions / How do I recreate my old layout after a clean reinstall of Windows 10?

I am a longtime user, and I'm used to my player looking a certain way. I'm not even sure where the style came from, but I think I borrowed it from Winamp when they shut down. Anyway, I did a clean install of Windows 10 and, like a goof, forgot to port my Musicbee folder settings. How do I get my player looking like this again (minus the skin effects)?



I'm just having a hard time arranging the panels and selecting the right elements and where to place them.

General Discussions / Need a way to add tag values while keeping original values

Hello,

I'm already familiar with tagging. I've got a rather large library of songs (4000+) and manually editing the values is out of the question.

I want to add a value to the BPM tag for use in iTunes to indicate the KBPS of the song. The song quality in other words. I have some 24/96 and high bitrate songs in ALAC format I want to be able to add to separate playlists.

I already have the BPM field tagged to denote the Musicbee rating of each song. And I want to add a tag for the KB/s of each song into the BPM field on top of the song ratings.

Now, if there is a hidden KB/s field I've missed in Get Info in iTunes, then please kindly point it out. In which case I'm a complete numpty. Any answers are welcome.

Questions / How To Show Only Songs With No Album Art?

I keep running across various files that don't have album art embedded in them. I have hundreds of songs and don't want to audit each one. How do I get MusicBee to search for just the songs that DON'T have album art? Thanks!

Questions / Toggle mouseover scroll on/off?

I used to be able to mouse over the main panel, for example, and scroll. Now, even if I click within the window, I can't mouseover scroll.

Does anyone know, is there a setting in MusicBee anywhere to change this? I've looked in my Logitech app and there is no option to toggle mouseover scroll.

Questions / Stats for numbers of 5 star songs per album by album

I would like to rank my album collection, and I'm starting by searching by the number of 5 star songs in each album. Because I have so many albums cataloged, it's proving error-ridden and time-consuming to do it one-by one.

The question: is there a way to report, for example, how many albums have three 5-star songs, or which albums have greater than 6 4-star songs? Is there a report? Or would I use regular expressions? If the latter, could someone give me an example or point me to a tutorial?

Questions / Not showing up in plugins: Additional Tagging and Reporting Tools

I downloaded "Additional Tagging and Reporting Tools" with the hopes of exporting all my 5-star albums to an html or text file in order to catalog them. However, the plugin doesn't show up in preferences/plugins.

Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?

Questions / "Playing Track" Album Cover displays wrong picture!

Hi there!

Underneath where it says "Playing Track" the album cover is always the same. That is, is always displays the same album cover. If I right-click, it shows "Image1" "Image2" and "Image3". The first two are unrelated to the correct album cover. The third option is always the correct one.

I was wondering: is there any way to correct this error?

Questions / Musicbee freezes when I shut it down.

I've had a problem the past few days. When I try to exit Musicbee, it freezes and will sit there until I terminate it in Task Manager.

What might be causing this? I haven't added any new hardware to my computer recently. And I've been running MB for nearly two years now with very few problems.

Even if I stop the currently playing song before I exit, it's the same problem.

I'd like to avoid a re-install because the last time I did that I lost my auto-playlists.

Questions / Need help removing dead files

I need some help removing a ton of duplicate songs that appear as dead links.  I have a TON of dead links that hang around and I would like to purge them in one fell swoop.

Some explainin': I have a virtual hard drive on the C: drive where I store my favorite songs. Musicbee likes to scan this VHD for some reason and I end up with a bunch of duplicates. So I've taken to unmounting the VHD until I need it. When I dismounted the VHD, Musicbee keeps the duplicates even if I rescan the library.

I mean there are hundreds of these songs with the little exclamation mark that I would really rather not take the time to purge manually.

Any ideas on how to do this?

Questions / ID3 Tags and Deleting Duplicates Files

I have imported several duplicate albums without realizing it. I want to delete the duplicate files in MusicBee because it's going to be much more efficient than manually deleting the files though Windows.

The problem is, some of these songs have ID3 tag info and ratings attached to them, while some of the duplicates do not.

The question is: if I delete the duplicate files in MusicBee, does it give preference to the ID3 tags with additional info (comments, ratings, groupings) or does it just randomly delete by some unknown mechanism?

Questions / Artwork not cycling with songs

Hi,

The images I have saved into my song files are no longer cycling with each new song. Instead, I have to click each song in the right-hand panel dock. Only then do they change.

I'd kind of like to get them cycling again when each new song plays.

Btw, the little popup window that appears and disappears each time a new song starts has the correct artwork. Go figure.

If anyone has encountered this before, I could use a little help in getting this wrinkle ironed out.

Questions / How do I create more variation in artist in a dynamic playlist?

In order to increase variation of artists and titles in my auto playlists, I've been limiting my auto playlists to 50 songs according to songs least often played. The idea is to keep play counts evenly distributed rather than having certain songs build up high play counts. I just want some variation.

TLDR;
Here's the problem. In using these parameters, my auto playlists only contain alphabetical blocks of artists limited to 50 songs. For example, out of the 50 songs I get 7 songs by the Beatles, 4 songs by the Eagles, 4 songs by the Rolling Stones, 9 songs by Van Halen, 5 songs by Van Morrison and so on.

So, how do I make it so I'm getting more artist variation in these auto playlists? I've got thousands of songs by many different artists - more than enough to have just one songs per artist per playlist.

How do I do this?

MusicBee Wishlist / Option to create "most/least played artist" auto playlist?

Would there be a way to implement the ability to create an auto playlist for a library's most/least played artists?

Right now it is possible to create a "most played songs" auto playlist based on play count. It should be a fairly simple fix to include the option to sort artist by play count as well, no? So, instead of sorting play count by song, include the ability to do the same by artist?

This would give the user the ability to play songs by artists they either hear the most or to play songs by artists they hear the least. This would be a great way to give the users the ability to explore their libraries more fully.

Questions / Most played arttist auto playlist?

Hi! 

I'm a little stuck trying to create a "most played artist" auto playlist. I just want a way to display which artists I play most.

I've examined the top 25 played template, and that seems simple enough: if playcount > X, then rank by most often played. Simple.

So is there a way to do this with artists rather than individual tracks?

Just starting to go beyond simple auto playlists and couldn't find anything like this already posted.

Forgive me if the answer is obvious, but I need to know how to create more than one variable in the same filter.

For example, let's say I want to filter by genre AND ratings greater than 3 stars - on the same filter.

How do I do that?
