Questions / Re: Can I organise albums by date added?
« on: October 09, 2020, 05:53:32 PM »
@texasbreeze
From what you're saying, I suspect you have the 'Headers' for this panel turned off which is why you can't the Albums header as shown in the image above.
Try placing your cursor close to the top of the panel in question. For example if it's showing alum covers, place it just above the top of the album cover nearest to the top. Right click. If a pop-up menu appears saying 'Play next', you're not up high enough. creep the cursor a little higher and try again. You should end up with a pop-up menu that starts with either 'Shower Header Menu' or 'Hide Header Menu'. Make sure you select Show Header Menu so you can access this again more easily.

You will now see the view type that you have. You will also see the Sort By menu option as the image above and selecting that will give you the possible options which includes the one you want - Date Added / Album.

Don't forget that when you've got the view you want you can save this as a unique view that can be recalled whenever you want by using the Header Menu again and selecting Custom Views and then Copy Current View Settings To... and give it a name you want to call it.

HOWEVER, the best thing you can do is take an hour and read the Wiki section on The Anatomy of MusicBee. It will make a lot of this clearer, especially if you try each option to see what it does before you setting up your 'ultimate' layout.

Hope this helps.

Questions / Re: What layout is this?
« on: October 09, 2020, 05:34:49 PM »
What he appears to have is nothing displayed in the Left and Right main panels. The Navigation tree is in the left sidebar and the tracks/lyrics/bio are in the right sidebar. These panels show full height. He has placed the Now Playing bar in the main panel under 'files' which makes it appear shorter length in this format. The minute you add something into either the left or right main panels the shape will change.

Hope this helps.

Skins / Re: Banned - how to skin it?
« on: August 29, 2020, 01:07:28 PM »
You need to define separate banned images (normal and highlight) and store them where you keep you LastFMLove images.

Then modify your TrackLove code to something like this (dependant on your file locations), to include the 'Banned' category-

<element id="TrackLove" parent="Panel">
  <left relativeTo="TrackRating.Left" offset="140" />
  <top relativeTo="Panel.Bottom" offset="-22" />
  <images category="NotLoved"
    default="Images\LastFmNotLove.png"
    highlight="Images\LastFmNotLoveBright.png"
  />
  <images category="Loved"
    default="Images\LastFmLove.png"
  />
    <images category="Banned"
    default="Images\Banned.png"
    highlight="Images\BannedHighlight.png"
  />
</element>

Questions / Re: Playlist sorting
« on: August 24, 2020, 12:00:46 PM »
To follow on from Zak's reply, Ctrl+S is the default hotkey for Stop Playing, although this can be amended to your choice through Edit > Edit Preferences > Hotkeys > Playback:Stop.

To have a specific stop button showing in the player as well as the play/pause button, you'll need to use a skin where this has been included by the designer.  These are becoming quite popular in recent months and I know they are included in some of the skins that I use which have been designed by diego and Clarence as well as a few others. Check out the posts by these designers to see if there's something that appeals to you.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: R0001 - More Encode Custom Settings.
« on: August 18, 2020, 06:22:35 PM »
This thread is my favorite thing ever.

Parry, thrust, riposte - rinse and repeat.

Just what was called for when there's nothing on TV.

AND I didn't have to pay for a seat ticket.

Bliss.

Bug Reports / Re: Issues with the Tag Hierarchy Explorer panel
« on: August 12, 2020, 03:19:34 PM »
Well it's happening here:
can you send me a link to your settings file where its not being displayed (help/ support/ view settings)

I just went to get you the settings data and thought I'd check the tabs/stack again as I updated to the latest patch a little earlier. It is now working as expected so clearly something in the last patch or the penultimate one cured the problem for for me. I have tabs and/or stacked panels as I was expecting originally.

Hopefully the other user can verify that works for them if they update to the patch that was released today.

Bug Reports / Re: Issues with the Tag Hierarchy Explorer panel

Well it's happening here:

selected for tabs in Left Side panel (NO tabs shown)

selected for stack in Left main panel (NO stack shown)

However, un-tick the box and it appears. I can access it ok but jan_axhell says theirs keeps popping in and out.

Bug Reports / Re: Issues with the Tag Hierarchy Explorer panel

@Steven  I can recreate the problem reported  above by jan_axhell. It would seem that when TagHierachyExplorer (T.H.E.) is added to either the left side or left main panels, it allows a 'stack' tickbox to be drawn and ticked. However, when applied it does not stack the panels and does not display the T.H.E. panel at all. Un-tick the box and the T.H.E. panel appears where it is supposed to be, but not stacked (or tabbed, if that option was selected). I'm assuming the text panel used to base the T.H.E panel on was a stackable panel and this is a hangover.

I'm not putting this as a Bug Report as hopefully it will be picked up from this section which is currently very active.

@jan_axhell Just untick the 'stack' box and it will display the panel and you'll have to live with it in that mode until Steven makes a decision on it's ultimate method of deployment.

This may be an over-simplistic option, but are you sure the hotkey for EDIT hasn't been deleted or changed? Right clicking and selecting EDIT is only activating the hot key (SHIFT+ENTER) so if that is wrong, it won't work.

Go to Edit / Edit Preferences and then select Hotkeys from the left vertical menu. Scroll down on the right side and select Edit:Edit Tags if it isn't set to SHIFT+ENTER then there's your problem. You can always set it to something else (unique) to see if that works or convert it back to it's normal default of SHIFT+ENTER.

No guarantee that this will be the problem but it's worth a look.

Hope it helps.

Interesting stuff. You seem to have experience with skinning, I am curious, why haven't you shared any of your skins yet?
Or have you, but perhaps under another alias?

I have no need for an alias, hiccup. I'm not that interesting or devious (whichever way you want to look at it).
For a while now I have made skins for my own amusement and use. Most of what you need to know can be found on here somewhere and it's been a case of trial and error.
Besides, it keeps me occupied and passes the day.

Why haven't I shown them? Well, there are others on here who are clearly more talented than I am. Just because I know how to make a skin doesn't mean that those skins are any good.

I'm quite happy doing my own thing for my own use. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to show them. For now I'll use my own ones that I like and when I want something different I choose one from the new skins that have been published recently. Some of those have been really excellent and bring the player to life more than I can.

The LastFMLove icon <element id="LastFmLove"> for the main panel should be 16x16 pixel images and not the 64x64 pixel size you have stated.

If the skin you are working on is utilizing a bitmap player (.xmlc file) this is likely using the larger 64x64 image to make the icon/button more distinct in the player. I don't know how you store/categorize your icons/images but I always keep my panel/skin icons in a different folder from my player controls/images.  From your screenshot I'd say you have the 64x64 image selected (and judging by the distortion on the image it has been over-colored several times in an art package to get the color you want and has lost it's definition). The player 'Love' icon/button is called by <element id="TrackLove"> in the skin.xml file.
