It appears Steven updated the link. Not getting a false positive anymore.

On mine personally, I'm getting a "Trojan:Win32/Fethar.B!cl" notification. Which is very odd indeed. I'll just try updating definitions again later and see if that fixes it.

EDIT: It seems being even one definition update behind seems to cause that false positive, at least on Windows Defender. Doesn't pop up again after it is updated, thankfully.

I just updated definitions before downloading again and I still get the report of "Trojan:Win32/Fethar.B!cl" being found.

I have the same issue. Windows Defender was very aggressive about it. I assume it's nothing, but I'll hold off on upgrading for now.

Questions / Auto-playlist for 24 bit files?
« on: June 12, 2015, 03:09:17 AM »
I've recently begun collecting hi-res albums from HDTracks and the like. My question is how do I make an auto-playlist for files that are 24-bit?

I figured out that I can filter by sample rate (Sample rate > is greater than > 44100), but a few albums are 24/44.1. Selecting Bitrate > is > 24 doesn't work (this seems to be for MP3 encoding bitrate and not bit depth). I don't want to create new tags or anything. So is this possible?

P.S. I really, really do not want to have a discussion about what constitutes hi-res/HD audio or questionable sampling practices. Thanks!

I've wanted this for a while. For me, using something like Audacity to combine the files is not acceptable and introduces more problems than it solves. I don't have any good ideas on how you'd go about it though. Does anybody know how radio does it? Like how I'll always hear Journey's "Feeling That Way" and "Anytime" or Van Halen's "Eruption" and "You Really Got Me" played together in sequence.

Questions / Re: Is there a way to make an album/song louder?
« on: June 29, 2014, 09:21:43 PM »
Have you tried the built-in volume analyzer? It writes ReplayGain tags to your library. This will correct volume discrepancies between tracks and albums in a non-volatile way. Select the tracks you want to analyze then press CTRL+SHIFT+V or find it in the Tools menu and continue from there. I do this to my entire library so that when I go from a folk song to a metal song or whatever I don't have to go reaching for the volume knob. It's an excellent (and crucial) feature.

I know you said you didn't want to put the month/day in the year tag, but that's really the easiest way to do it without custom tags.

Using The Beatles as an example, I have the album "Please Please Me" with 1963-03-22 written in the year field. "With The Beatles" is tagged 1963-11-22. Now sort tracks by "Album Artist / Year / Album" (a default setting). Presto! Albums released in the same year now appear chronologically. As scampbll said, if you don't want the month/day cluttering up the displayed date, you can change it to display <Year (yyyy)>.

Just adding my 2ยข here: I recently redid ReplayGain values for my entire library using foobar2000 v1.3.1 and I must say that I'm very pleased with the results. Playing my library on random, I no longer have to reach for my volume knob to make adjustments when going from delicate acoustic songs to extreme metal for example.

Just discovered this. I've never really bothered with the compact player before, but this is very nice!

You could use MP3DirectCut to edit the file and make the hidden track a separate file.

That's something I'd really like to avoid. As suggested in the original post, Foobar2000 is able to do this without altering files. I think Winamp can do it too.

General Discussions / Re: Official MB appreciation thread

I've been using MusicBee for several months now and it is by far my favorite program for listening to music. I've tried many, many different programs including iTunes, J. River's Media Jukebox, MediaMonkey, Songbird, and Winamp among others. MusicBee has great features and an active community with a great developer (thank you Steven!). I still use foobar2000 for basic editing of ID3 tags since I find it quicker/easier, but for anything else to do with my music library, MusicBee is the best!

+1 to this request

I don't like using the included skip silence feature because it's too aggressive for my tastes and all I really just want is to skip ahead in songs with hidden tracks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidden_track
