Questions / Re: Music Bee playing but no sound. Sound bars working.
« on: May 14, 2021, 02:50:08 PM »
Yes thanks Hiccup, another of those edge of the seat experiences!

Music Bee does seem to be very robust and forgiving of fools like me. I have had more than a few stuff ups but somehow MB has come back from the dead in fine style.

A tough little music player well suited to computer philistines such as myself.

WELL I FEEL LIKE A FOOL, BUT I WILL FESS UP TO CLEAR THIS UP.

Right so perusing the player I saw no INBOX. so loaded it in - all my stuff in the Inbox! Dumb ass me. BUT usually when doing this it all goes into "Music" by default, so a mystery there.

SO, looking at the tracks I find at the top 18 files of an album that was giving me trouble, I had deleted it. So why showing up?

Clicked Edit, select all, try to send files over and player freezes and I opt to shut it down.

Back on again select the 18 troublesome files, delete them from Library and computer, now all files are accounted for, Move them over to music, no freeze this time.

Could not believe it! All my artwork, thumbnails in perfect order, better than ever!

Lesson learnt. Best to get rid of trouble albums like won't take tags easy etc., they can stuff everything up. Bloody unreal. A few bad tracks have given me several months of non stop headaches.

The fact I deleted these tracks from Library and computer shows bad tracks can stick around even on a well scanned device. Ruin your day (Or months) for sure.

Thanks Music Bee community for help. AND the sound is back and sounding great! Phew!!!

Thanks very much Vincent, have done all that.
However, hopefully not sounding like a p in the a, I deleted MB and have reloaded all my music. Have done this before when new computer etc., always worked flawlessly until now.

Never seen this before either! Scan completed perfectly, all my music files are shown at the bottom, player all ok, not frozen at all. Have exited and re-entered ok.

Have rescanned, went fine, files still shown, "no new files found".

Still not a single song shown. Music Bee is my default player. Windows 10 Pro. MB is standard skin, no add-ons or anything. Settings all default and untouched.

After several months of great MB, for some reason since then nothing but trouble. Artwork first, tried uninstalling Windows photo etc. Still playing up. No picture, sometimes after reloading it shows, sometimes not. Thumbnails vanish then re-appear. My security is only Windows standard. Middle settings. Very few apps. Nothing showing anywhere as conflicts. New Dell XPS8940. 128GB of RAM.
Drives scan fine. Offline, Full & Quick Security scans all good.

Not sure what is going on?

Wondering whether to use the Dell player, not too good but reasonable sound, then maybe come back tp MB in a few months and hopefully some new updates or something may have fixed what ever it is that's causing all this. "I will be back".

Yes I have my speakers set to 80% and it goes through my Nu Audio soundcard. Works great! Was going great guns on Music Bee until this morning? Haven't touched a thing, just stopped!
As I say the sound bars on MB are dancing away but no sound at all.

All other music stuff, including Windows sound effects, are working fine.

Have just reloaded everything over an artwork issue, artwork keeps vanishing & thumbnails on side bar come and go. Burning in the new version and hope it fixes that. I use the standard MB skin, no add-ons.

But this no sound has me stumped, will reload and reset again if required. Cheers KB.

Tried You Tube on Edge and my sound is fine.

Have had Music Bee for a few years now but have not come across this one before.

Anyone had this problem, thanks.

General Discussions / Re: So how big is your music library?

Well how's this for MB can't handle this and that.

A while back I had a couple of hundred thou songs on a Dell XPS8920. Was slow and clunky, but after I-Tunes Music Bee was paradise. Was running about 16GB RAM.

I now have a Dell XPS 8940 with 128GB RAM and a Music Bee library of 1,017,303 tracks - 14963.2 GB - 2834.1 Days.

Music Bee now runs like a rocket, (or plane, fast car whatever). In fact it is faster than ever before. I can now scroll quite fast and all the thumbs are there all the time.
In fact anything loads as fast as!!!

So maybe Steven is just a bit ahead of his time and it is us catching up with him - not the other way around.

Thanks Steven a wonderful player, wouldn't swap it for quid's.

LOL!!! Sorry boys and girls but things are strange.

Reported this, went back tried again, an old setting I tried a dozen times, <Track#>, and the darn thing worked perfectly first time!!!???

Was just reading another post about, "last week rocket scientists, this week airplane pilots". I see it differently, more like car drivers. A fault develops, but when you take the car to the mechanic - hey presto! It is working fine.

Could be I am getting pranked from an other realm???

I had a problem with an error about "out of memory". Re-loaded MB and it has worked fine since on rescans for missing artwork.

But for some reason I now cannot get track numbers from "infer and update tags from filename".
Before if track numbers were missing, but were present in the "name" in properties, all I did was run the "infer" option and track numbers would then show in MB.

Worked really well. Since the reset this will not work anymore. Have tried all sorts of combinations to no effect.

Does anyone have the settings I need to get this function back. Sorry if a bit dumb, but I am a basic learner.

Questions / Re: MusicBee now freezes everytime I tag files.

Well think a ghost has invaded my house and declared war on all technology!

Two total wrecks of my computer, (my phone quit too), and a couple of other fails has left me without an answer to this question of tag freezes.

First wreck was an Intel update, second an Acronis 2021 Clone Disc disaster.

Anyway some dollars and several days and I am back up. By good luck I managed to salvage MusicBee.

It all loaded up AND every album cover was in place, a miracle, a few thumbs not yet loaded, (Have Dem ol Cosmic Blues skin), but they load if I look at any albums in that section.

Strangely the tagging freeze problem has disappeared. I can shed no light as to why, however if anyone else comes across this I DO NOT endorse this series of events to fix it.

Regardless sticking with MusicBee, cannot think of anything else that could have recovered so perfectly after being nuked twice.

Thanks Kev.

Thanks Steven,

so my post should have read 11TB (Not GB) of files in MusicBee.

I am running up to date Windows 10 Pro, have no other music player or any new apps that conflict.
The only one I have added in ages is EAC to rip a couple of new CD's. So everything the same except extra songs.

It is of course possible there is a corrupt file or artwork in there somewhere but no idea how I would ever find it.

When I do the "editbin" and type "cmd.exe" in Explorer MusicBee and load "editbin /LARGEADDRESSAWARE MusicBee.exe" press enter, I get: "EDITBIN : error : cannot execute LINK.EXE; errno = 2 (2)".

I would like to try and get the memory up to 4GB and see if this is a fix.

Anyone know why I am not getting the correct result? Thanks in advance and sorry if I am being a bit of a pest.

Another thought would be could I uninstall MusicBee, download the latest version, reload everything?
Would all the art etc. still be in place?
I have no missing album covers, and all track names etc.
Labour of love.

The last one "Invalid Data" I just rescanned and the data I had entered showed up fine.
It was just a few albums that I entered number of tracks on, seemed alright, closed MusicBee, reopened and got the message.
Checked and the number of tracks was missing.
Rescanned and all ok.

Scanned and diagnosed everything 3 times and the drives came up ok.
I am a really old bloke, nearly 70, and have managed over several years to load all my music onto MusicBee.
I now have nearly 780,000 tracks of several different types and they all play great on MusicBee.
(That's nearly 11GB of music or 2,153 days worth).

I believe it must be a memory hang up of some sort, try as I may all the fixes here do not bring up the same results as you guys have posted, so have not been able to bump it up to 4GB just to see.

Notices like: " EDITBIN : error : cannot execute LINK.EXE; errno = 2 (2)" or "editbin" etc etc is not a recognised command and so forth.

Anyway I submit a few items from recent MusicBee error log if anyone can make sense. Thanks.

Questions / MusicBee now freezes everytime I tag files.
« on: August 11, 2020, 07:50:48 AM »
Told this does not belong in "Bugs" so will try here.

After a long run of bug free time things have gone from worse to worse.
Could be an album cover or just a number in the no. of discs, it starts to apply then the entire app freezes usually on the 6th.

Have to reboot everytime.

Single file Flac with a cue seem ok. But anymore than 6 files and crash.

A couple of months ago a "Memory Full" notice would pop up now and then when scanning for new files. Closing, re-opening and scanning again always fixed it.

Then this problem arrived along with the truncated "LBUMART" thingy, which I haven't seen for a couple of years.

I have Windows 10 Pro, MusicBee is up to date.

Tried the "4gb patch" and the other stuff, but did not get any of the results as posted.

Anyone else seeing this again? Fixed a lot of this years ago by getting rid of Windows Media Player, this no longer applies of course.
