Questions / Playlists
« on: June 06, 2021, 05:02:54 PM »
:-[ I can't seem to make or delete a playlist. I have one created but the program won't let me load it. When I check, it says all 34 files by the artist are in it but there's no list and I didn't want all 34 files loaded, only a few of them from the one album.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!
Will S

OK, I wasn't clear. I know how to find and add cover images, but where is Music Bee getting all of these karaoke covers from? It seems like 9 out 10 files I play come up with a karaoke cover rather than for the actual artist.

I have just replaced my HDD with an SSD and have reloaded Music Bee. I have the music all loaded but now whenever there is no album art, the program most times fills it in with some karaoke album art. How do I change where the program looks for album art?

Ok, I found the start dealie but now the library has crashed again. It says a library must be loaded but says it can't find any .mbl files anywhere. This is getting frustrating. Thanks for any help you guys can give!

I had a topic here the other day but can't find it now. I installed MusicBee but was advised to start it in portable or minimum... now I can't find the .exe file to start it. It is not in the MusicBee folder. Where else should I look?

That worked! Thank you!

Also based on early listening, it seems to have solved the 'same songs played over and over' problem from earlier, too! I am hearing songs that haven't played in months!

Big win!

Questions / Library crashed
« on: May 09, 2020, 07:33:04 PM »
While moving some stuff around (not the music), all at once my Music Bee program couldn't find the library. So I deleted it and rescanned, still no go. I think what happened was the library was from the backup copy on the C Drive where it should have been hooked to the working copy on the F Drive.

I deleted the backup copy on the C Drive because I had it in several different places. So, nothing else worked, and I uninstalled MusicBee. Then tried to load MusicBee 3.3 update 5 from the website (I deleted all the other zip files from earlier versions). Now the program comes up with an error that it is unable to open the musicbee.exe file and refuses to finish installing.

What am I doing wrong?

Is there a setting in Music Bee that I am missing on setting up how it plays? :-\  I have over 1800 tracks on my computer and Music Bee plays about 2 dozen of them over and over.

How can I set it up so it actually does a random play from all of the tracks? I have tried Auto-Dj, same result. I have set the play parameters so that it selects different artists and only allows same artist every hour or so.

I need help. I'm getting tired of hearing Midnight Cowboy and about 2 dozen others only every time I start it playing.

Thanks!

OK, Psychoadept, I took Steven's advice and installed the new version. It is not the one I tried a year or two ago that I didn't like, so we're good. I went ahead and told the old program to delete the files that were listed as C:/... and it did. Halfway through, I realized I had performed that command on the C Drive folder in the program!

Anyway, having learned from a terrible tragedy last year in which I lost my music and photos in an external drive crash, I had the music backed up to two other locations! So, just a matter of transferring from one to the other.

Anyway to the point... I looked for Alabama in the new program. Not there at all. So I ripped the CD to the library and it now shows all 10 of the Alabama and all 18 of the Alan Jackson!

Problem solved! Thanks for all your help, both you and Steven, to this computerized library novice. I know music and can answer just about any question regarding any song from the late 50's, 60's and early 70's but cataloging them... not so good at that! ::)

Psychoadept - checking the filename, they all appear to be correct, listing track name.mpg and looking at the path, I see they are all listed the same: C:/Users/Will/Music, but the music I am supposed to be playing is on my F drive, an external. Maybe that's it? The files on C are a backup.

I think I will look for the downloads area and get the newest version. Should I delete the one I have first? I assume that deleting the program as I have it to install a newer version will delete the library and it's .bak file?

Thanks, I think we're getting close here!

Steven -

Is that a different version than the one immediately following 3.1.6590? I tried that one and didn't like it. It had too many things for people who catalog and other functions like that and it seemed like the music play and library had suffered in that version.

Psychoadept - the inbox is empty. I have over 1800 tracks on the computer, is there a way to check the file path without looking at the properties of each track?

Ok, my computer is set to display all folders, main and sub. All of my music is in one folder on the computer called Music, so a sub folder would not be a problem.

I just removed the Alabama tracks and rescanned from the CD. Now the library doesn't show any of of them and when I search, I get 4 tracks. I don't know where it scanned them to.

How do I delete the library and put in a new one?

This one's getting personal, isn't it?  ::)

Thanks,
Will

OK, I see what you're saying now, but switching to that still gives me only 14 Alan Jackson (should be 18) and 5 Alabama (should be 10). These are the two artists I am focusing on right now, I'm sure there are probably more, but once we figure out the problem, I can fix any others I find, using the solution.

Thanks

OK, here's the link for the page:

https://chunder.weebly.com/private-access.html

I have put new caps on the page. One shows the tracks in question as they appear on the computer. The next one show them as they appear on the MB Library.

As you can see, there are vast differences. What is wrong in my settings that is causing this?

Thanks
