Questions / Re: Musicbee has assigned many wrong titles and artists
« on: May 24, 2017, 01:46:53 PM »
Just last week I followed that tagging instruction and it worked a treat.
I tested a few tracks and then bulk handled about 1000 tracks.
It all ran perfectly.

Questions / Re: Cannot Load Album Artwork to Two Album Files
« on: May 23, 2017, 12:17:05 PM »
Just a point.
If you try adding some artwork (that you have already successfully added to a different album), to the tricky ones AND try to add the failing artwork to other albums that have already had other artwork successfully added to them, you can work out if it is the artwork or the album that is at fault.

And just today I bulk re-tagged the tracks and as far as I can see, they all leapt into their proper places except 4 tracks which are odd downloads of dubious heritage.

4
Thank you so very much.
The answers seem obvious as soon as I know them!

Thank you so much for all he advice.
I re-tagged about 15 files and rescanned and it sent those files to the right places so I might just bite the bullet and do them all one at a time.
How would I choose all the files?
I don't think I saw a "select all" option, but then I was just right clicking one at a time.

6
And the entire folder (100 tracks) is now listed by the name of the album  that the first track comes from.

7
OK. Not sure what I did wrong before, but now after preview I have the option to "apply changes" which I am clicking.
That produces the (correct) name of the artist on the display.
Do I have to go through one track at a time?
That's not so bad I guess.
I can't see how to do them in bulk, but my more important question is how do I get them into the folders where I want them?
Can I use auto-tag by album of will a simple re-scan move them to the right folders?
Yet again, thanks in advance.

A bit more information... if I look at each track, I find a name (and possibly a track number) but that is all.
The "infer and update tags) seems to always find the right artist and album.
As I think I said before, there seems no button to click to say "yes, oh yes, please do that", and if I click either preview or close it just sits there.
Do I need to rescan and do I need to open new folders for each album?
Once again, thanks in advance.

OK, thanks.
I just tried "infer and update tags" and it showed the right artist, right album, track name and number with file format.
So far so good.
It offers me "preview" and "close".
I tried preview and close but the track sits in the same folder.
Do I have have to re-scan tracks?
At the moment there is no folder(album) for it under artist.

I've been using MB for a couple of months and just recently looked for an album (files are listed under traditional albums) and couldn't find it. Eventually I found a particular track listed in a folder marked [empty] at the top of the list under "Album Artists".
It has best part of a thousand tracks in it.
I previously used Logitech Media Server and that could read those files, but MB seems to have a problem with them.
Am I going to have to re-tag all thousand tracks which in itself will be problematic as these tracks do have any listing for artist let alone an album, just a track name, some with track numbers some without.
If anyone has any ides fir a short cut solution I would be very grateful as tracing what all the tracks are and presumably tagging each one individually is not filling my heart with glee.
Thanks in advance

Questions / Re: Need to add Composition Field for Classical Music

"Anyway, you might try using WASAPI in both cases.
http://www.thewelltemperedcomputer.com/SW/Players/MusicBee/MusicBee_audio.htm
IMHO a slight improvement in transparency compared with Direct Sound"

I made that change and heard a small but clear improvement.
Simple to do (the click of a mouse) and thus worthwhile.

Questions / Re: noobie question on separating albums
« on: February 08, 2017, 10:32:24 AM »
Thanks. As is usually the case, the answer is right under my nose where I am not looking.
Overnight I turned the computer off and the settings went back to tracks list.
Is there a way of fixing them?
I presume I can only look for missing artwork one album at a time as I have to ok them individually.
I reckon I am running out of credit here pretty quickly!

Psychoadept
Your reply send me scurrying back and I have now figured out what I was missing, although I have to admit it took me 4 goes!
If you will indulge me, is there a way that Musicbee will search for album cover pictures?
I can't spot it.
It is almost certainly me.
It always is. :'(

Thanks for the reply and the welcome.
I thought when I clicked artist view I got a list of all the tracks with albums labelled but all in the same list.
What you described was exactly what I wanted.
I know the external hard drive with all the music on has tracks within individual album folders.
I shall look at that again this afternoon (Australian time).

Questions / noobie question on separating albums
« on: February 07, 2017, 12:58:02 AM »
OK, in advance i apologise if this has been gone over (and over) before.
I have literally just today downloaded Musicbee after 8 years using the various incarnations of Logitech Media Server for use with a Squeezebox.
In LMS I could see a list of artists and if I clicked on one I would see a list of albums (folders). Then I could click on that and get a list of tracks on the album (in the folder) and then simply click the first to play the whole album.
In Musicbee I seem to have a choice of every track by an artist or  having to pick an album by name.
Is there a way of clicking through artists to get the albums they are credited with?
I can't see it. But I know I might just be looking for the wrong term or something.
I am sure there must be a simple solution.
SO if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
Thanks in advance for any ideas you can offer.
