Plugins / Re: Chiptune/ tracker module support
« on: February 25, 2020, 05:05:13 PM »
Also not working for me in the latest version MusicBee 3.3.7310 P with the basszxtune 2.49 dll in the same folder. None of the file extensions supported by basszxtune seem to be recognized, neither in library nor manually by dragging into 'now playing'. vgm, vgz, etc. I did a clean portable install to make sure nothing is wrong with my configuration. Sucks, I really want to save space by using these pure sound chip formats instead of blowing up the file sizes with destructive MP3.

This .dmp file is generated when MusicBee crashes, does that help?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! This new 3.3 build does work indeed, however I am still having issues with certain files such as the .vgm I provided, same result on a fresh 3.2 portable install. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help debug this issue.

Sorry to bump this old thread. Basszxtune doesn't seem to be working in the 3.3 betas, but reverting to 3.2 works fine however.

EDIT: Many files crash MusicBee when added to Now Playing or dragging into the library. Here is a sample from Phantasy Star III https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Zzbn8YodmxE2y_mmcANdLWvJjf-PjynI

If you mean that the album that is drag and dropped has many genres, then its genre tag would be overwritten for simply the genre that it was dropped onto. It should replace the tag of the drag and drop content with what it's dropped onto.

It would be really handy if it were possible to drag n drop an album from the main panel into a category from the left sidebar. I wish to use it mainly to change quickly organize albums into genres (setting the file tags at the same time), but it just occurred to me while posting that the sidebar can group files in other different ways as well (not limited to genre only), hence the topic subject. I will leave the abstraction and specifics open for discussion. For me, just moving into genres would be enough but I think it would be possible to make this work for different kinds of tags as well!  :)

edit: This is my setup below, for reference. I would use this feature by dragging the album covers from the main panel, with the ability to highlight/move several at once too.

You probably have "playback follows cursor" enabled in the Player preferences

Holy shit that's what this thing does, that must absolutely be it, thank you so much. However I still think WYSIWYG ordering would be a nice thing to add for future versions.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Option for SANE playing order

Is it possible you have shuffling on?

No, it is off.

Even today in 2018, MusicBee's play order system causes issues and is absolutely nonsensical in my opinion. Please, add an option to make it 'sane'. E.g. when a song ends, play the song that is directly after it visually. I don't want any weird internal numbering/ordering system. If I sort the list through one of the columns, then it should play whatever follows the current song according to this new ordering!! When I add multiple albums to the 'Now playing' playlist, it often jumps unexpectedly to the next album or the last song in the playlist for no reason, even though the # column is fully sequential. Please add an option to make it play whatever directly follows the current song, without any weird underlaying ordering, I shouldn't have to right click and select "Update playlist order". The apparent ordering of a playlist should be directly linked to its play order. If not, then at least having an option for this would be good since every music player in existence works in this manner, except for MusicBee. In other words, I want simple What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) ordering. It should play top to bottom just as it appears visually.

The play order system is really my only gripe with this software as it seems over-complicated and error prone. MusicBee is straight up the best music player I've ever used, but its ordering system continues to infuriate me to no end.

MusicBee Wishlist / Close to tray
« on: January 26, 2017, 05:18:58 PM »
Currently, this is only possible for minimize, but for my setup, I'd like to be able to set it like so:

  • Minimize to mini-player
  • Close to tray

Thanks
