Bug Reports / Previous Track stops playing 1st track if less than 20s
« on: January 08, 2022, 01:27:23 PM »
Previous Track stops playing 1st track, even if repeat is enabled.
This only happends if the song has been played less than 20s. After 20s it restarts the track as expected. I can't see Stop playing would be a logical action in this scenario if repeat is also enabled.

For a guitar player who regularly restarts a song when learning how to play the intro it can be quite annoying. :(

Thanks for developing the best audio app!  :-*

Any change of having these two issues fixed? 🙂

I now isolated the bugs causing this behavior.

1. When I play the songs with Shuffle On. During the first 20s pressing Prev button or hotkey always stops the song playback instead of restarting it or going to the previous track.
2. Having only 1 song in the playlist and Shuffle Off also stops playback instead of restarting the same track (when Repeat is turned on).

Thanks for the tip of AutoHotkey even though it doesn't suit me when I actually want to move to the previous song. 😉

Bug Reports / Previous Song Stops Playing (if less than 20s played)

As a guitar player often transcribing songs I regularly use the Prev hotkey for going back restarting the song from the beginning.

However if the song being played has not yet passed 20s play time the song is just stopped. Compared to if playtime has exceeded 20s then it restarts playing the song from the beginning. This is very annoying forcing me to remove all other songs from the playlist and using Next hotkey instead as a workaround. Which does not have the same behavior if less then 20s remains. 😉

I've been a fan using MusicBee for many years and love it! 😊 But is it possible to change this behavior or if not make it configurable?

OK, I don't agree with the design but if its intentional then fine. :) Thanks anyway!

It seems like this setting solution is not solving my problem without introducing a new one.

From my experiance when selecting "group by album" and "shuffle album tracks", having a playlist of many different artists, the shuffle when stumpled upon one of several tracks from a specific album will shuffle the album songs completely and then afterwards move on to other albums.

This might be a good feature for some but the bug I reported was that when playing an album and having shuffle enabled always starts with the first track. This I don't think should be the expected behavior even when having "group by album" and "shuffle album tracks" deselected. Can this be fixed?

(Thanks for a great audio player!)

Checking the "Group by Album" and "Shuffle Album Track" the shuffling works as expected. But what other things do these settings affect?

Logically I think that random always should randomize the first track as default.

I'm using the latest 2.0 patch. In the Shuffle settings only the combobox "Random" is selected. None of the album check boxes.

I have to second the first problem regarding that its always the 1:st track being played when playing an album when Shuffle is enabled. After the 1:st song is played a random song is being picked so first after that it is really shuffling. When I click on an album in Shuffle mode I don't expect/want to - always - hear the first track.

Yes, I understand that. Too much info will make it too complex and destroying the (nice looking) GUI design. I will use my right mouse button a lot from now on. :) Thanks!

Aha! I didn't know that. Thanks!

There are some great but hidden functionality. Maybe this too should be visualized by some icon in the header to point it out for the user?

Sounds excellent! Thanks!  :)

"for grouping by Artist you can see an underline on the text". I didn't quite understand you by this. When is this view displayed?

@ma_t14: I was writing my post while you answered. :) Yes, I tried that configuration as well but I didn't like it much. For other scenarios having the Play now working in the default way is also desired. Sometimes you only want to play one song and keeping the current playlist, sometimes you want to play only the specific album replacing the current play list.

Yes, that is what I meant by the "Play" icon. :) However, pressing the play button changes the "Now playing" list to contain all songs displayed in the artwork view. What I ment was a quick way starting to play only the songs of the specific album.

----

As I wrote - I just found that you could press the album text to get a quick link to "Play album now" but it is a bit hard to guess. My suggestion was to also have a "Play album" button below the "Play" button.

Thinking about it further it might be cluttering the album art with button links. Another solution would be to maybe have a small arrow button in the corner of the album. Pressing it would display the same menu as pressing the text. I would never have guessed pressing the text would do something before I accidently did it.

Hi!

When displaying songs in Album view and clicking the Album "Play" icon the first song of the album is being played but if you for example are in the Music Library and you only want to play that album all other songs not belonging to that album is also added to the "Now playing" list.

* I found the right-click menu "Play more..."->"Play album tracks..."->"Play album now" but its a bit inconvenient to use.
* I also found you can double Enter; first selecting the album and its tracks and then start it and clearing the Play album now. But then you loose the album view.

Could it be possible to add a second icon below "Play" when howering the album art called "Play album" for this?

----

When writing this post I found that left-clicking the album text gave a quick link to "Play album tracks...". However, I found this only by mistake and would never have guessed it otherwise. :P
