Sort Album Artist (and all sort fields) are treated as singular - that will not be changed

I understand, thanks.

CLOSED

Version 3.3.7165 (fresh install)

When (certain) album tracks have multiple artists, both artist are shown in thumbnail browser and both show the tracks (as expected) when sort by Artist.

However also 'artist1;artist2' is shown as an artist in thumbnail browser and showing no tracks... I do no expect  'artist1;artist2' in thumbnail browser when sort by Artist.

I think I have found the cause, will report later.

>> seemed i had not split display artist field into individual artist fields

Version 3.3.7165 (fresh install)

Albums are not shown when "Album Artist" has multiple values (semi-column separated) and when "Other tags > Sort Album Artist" is selecte d in the thumbnail browser menu. When sorting using "Album Artist" it works as expected, i.e. albums are shown at all album artists.

Thanks,

Maarten

Plugins / Re: UPnP/ DLNA device support
« on: July 23, 2017, 04:36:36 PM »
Problem solved. I had Oracle virtual box installed a week ago, have uninstalled it and now MB upnp/dlna plugin functions again. Strange since I was not running any virtual machine, but somehow it had changed my network stack apparently in such a way that upnp plugin did not function any more.... arghh.

UPnP suddenly has stopped working: playing an audio file with output set to an upnp/dlna device results in MB 'playing' (in fact it remains silent) 9 seconds of selected track and then skipping to the next track in line, and so on...

What's wrong. I would love to have it working again. Without upnp/dlna MB is not of much value to me. Pity because MB is great piece of software!

Steven, thanks

I won't use iTunes :-) Don't like it.

(1) When I put music on the iPod Shuffle using MB (with on the fly conversion) is it not always transferred in the order of the playlist nor the album order (as I explained already in first post).

(2) With iTunes, it is possible to change the order, very simply by moving the listed music files and resynchronise the iPod Shuffle. With MB that does not (seem to) work...

7
First of all: thanks a lot for giving us MusicBee, it's an excellent music manager and player !!

Using lastest patch (3160).

When I synchronise a playlist from my music collection (lossless) to my 2nd gen. iPod Shuffle using on the fly conversion, the playlist order get's mixed up. I guess since it starts multiple threads for converting and when a file has been converted immediately copies the file to my iPod Shuffle and then looses the correct order when conversion finishes not always exactly in the same order. Am I right?

It's seems not possible to change the iPod Shuffle's playing order after the initial synchronising (and actual copying the converted music files) has taken place. Or if it is possible, how can I do this?

Can you provide a solution?

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Maarten

@Bee-liever thanks for your assistance!

I know that will work, and I already use it as workaround. So I have practically solved my problem.

Nonetheless, it seems the Album Grouping function has flaws which maybe can be repaired.

@ maartenl
If you add your 'Album Version' tag to the album grouping settings it will work

Hello Steven,

I have checked the year fields, they seem ok.

See first screenshot for an example where Album Grouping does not work when using <Year (yyyy)> field (tried also with <Year> and same applies), i.e. the album with year=1990 is grouped correctly but the albums with the same album name with years 2003 and 2013 are grouped as one album...

Second screen shot shows Album Grouping by folder, which does the job!

Thanks for looking into it.

Very kind regards,

Maarten

Edit: I am using MB version 3.0.6044

Edit: ssri, many thanks for your support also (forgot to mention initially, excuse me), at your suggestion I have posted screenshots below.

Hello Steven, Thanks. For the albums concerned I use only 4 digits for the year date field. But I will check tomorrow if that's also the case with all albums.

its working fine here. The only reason i can think of is because the date cant be parsed but if you only use 4 digits in all cases then it should work

Hello Steven,

Is it possible in new release to include a "Disc Duration" field in addition to yhe Album Duration?

Thanks for your great work!

Since I have many albums which have been reissued one or more time, I tried to group albums (Preferences, Grouping) by defining an album using following fields:

1. Album Artist
2. Album Name
3. Year (yyyy)

For example I have 3 versions of Bowie's Aladdin Sane album (all with the same Album name)

1. Reissue 1990, with Year field = 1990
2. Reissue 2003, with Year field = 2003
3. Reissue 2013, with Year field = 2013

However version 2 (2003) en 3 (2013) are not displayed as separate albums, while version 1 (1990) on the other hand is correctly displayed as one album.

Same happens for 3 versions of Ziggy Stardust (1990, 2002, 2012) where the 20xx albums are shown as one album.

Maybe not all 4 digits of the year are taken into account when grouping?

Anyway, I have made a workaround by grouping through a completely different field then Year (yyyy). MusicBee is GREAT piece of software, THANKS.

Very Kind Regards,

First: MusicBee is GREAT piece of sofware thanks!

Just noticed that with 3.0 the spectrum visualisation has stopped working when output is set to an UPNP/DLNA device. Is this on purpose or something that can/will be fixed?
