Wow, al lot of cumbersome solutions.
But thank you anyway.

I think the best is:

Create an auto-playlist with the following conditions:

match all the following rules:
Path / starts with / (your folder)
Playlist / is not / (your static playlist)

Works although "Refresh Now" button in Auto-Playlist setup does not work (after modifying conditions)
I had to exit + restart MB to really show differences.

Thank you again to all.

Beside my two previous comments I can think of a solution like:

1. create new, second Playlist "temp"
2. add (drag) all *.mp3 files into it
3. perform a compare playlists operation which shows differences

BUT: Where is that "compare playlists" operation?

3
You can also, in tracks view, add the "Playlists" column, which lists the playlists that a file is in.

Adding the column "Playlist" (or "Category" like suggested in another post") does NOT help.
What does it help if  I open the playlist "myplaylist123" and the column "Playlist" shows the value "myplaylist123".
I KNOW that!

If I click on the playlist then only songs are listed which are already added.
I am searching songs which are NOT added (or later removed)

Can't you just remove all the tracks from the playlist and re-add them from the folder?

This would destroy my previous manual (!) sort order and probably the assigned Ratings

5
Assume I have a playlist which evolved over the recent years to now around 800 entries. All songs are added as *.mp3 files from one folder.

Unfortunately the number of items in Playlist is smaller than the number of files in the corresponding folder.
So I must have (accidentally) not added some *.mp3 files or deleted some playlist items later.

How can I find out easily which files are NOT added?

Bug Reports / Re: Different titel MusicBee vs. MP3Tag

Hmm, you are right.
After File Rescan its equal.

is there no auto-rescan in MusicBee for all *.mp3 files when the last modified date changed?

Bug Reports / Different titel MusicBee vs. MP3Tag
« on: April 02, 2023, 02:55:16 PM »
I have here a strange problem.

Since a few weeks I observed occasionally (!) for some songs a difference between the title shown in MusicBee and the title show in the wide spread, well know MP3tag tool.

Have a look at the attached snapshots.

Why are there different "Title" values?

https://i.postimg.cc/fWqSmvg5/Music-Bee-view.png

and

https://i.postimg.cc/sXD1ZBYt/MP3tag-view.png

According to MP3Tag the values are retrieved from an ID3v2.3 Tag header

Where can I see if this is the same TAG header version like the one MusicBee uses?
Possibly MusicBee retrieves the values from another brother Tag header with older version

Questions / How to convert mp3 filename to IDv3v2.3 fields?
« on: January 09, 2022, 06:54:12 PM »
I have lots of *.mp3 files which I assigned to several playlists in Musicbee.

The mp3 filenames follow the pattern

<artist name><blank ><dash><blank><title>

Now I want to let Musicbee read these file names (only of the marked songs in playlists), cut them into meaning tokens and store them in the corresponding fields of the (possibly present) ID3v2.3 header. All header fields beside artist and title should be unchanged.

How can I achieve this?

@phred:

Thank you for this workaround:

However this procedure is really weired and strange.

I expected a much more smarter way: If MusicBee detects (at stratup) that a monitored folder is no longer existing
then it should AUTOMATICALLY remove the folder.
With or without warning popup.

That would be the "normal" way.

Can this be implemented in the next release?

11
In the past I defined in Library--->"monitored folders" a folder which does not exist any more.

How can I remove this entry?

I miss a "delete" button.

Furthermore I miss a "monitor folder tree recursively" checkbox which let me define only the top node of a directory tree to let MB monitor everything inside.

Currently I have to specify ALL folders as separated entries.

Is "recursive" flag somehow possible? Or can this feature be added in the next release?

BTW: the monitored folder textbox shows only 2 lines at a time. Resizing is not possible and scrolling difficult.
Can this monitored folder list text entryfield by enlarged to lets say at least 5 lines?

@phred:

Ok, thank you for your answer. Just to clarify:

1.) If I change (outside of MB) in filename a char from Upper- to lowercase (or vice versa) and do a full re-scan in MB then
- the position inside a manual (!) sort order of a playlist
and
- the Rating value

will be kept

2.) if I change the content of a file (outside of MB) while keeping the exact filename and do a full re-scan in MB then
- the position inside a manual (!) sort order of a playlist
- the Rating value

will be kept

Correct?

When i right-click on a playlist and select context menu

"SendTo"--->"Folder (Copy)"--->"Copy files to Folder"

then the files are always automatically copied WITH the preceding number and a dash.

How can I copy them WITH omitting the number and the dash?

Assume I have a MP3 file added to a playlist with the filename

The Walls Of The World.mp3

If I change this file name now to (mind the char cases):

The walls of the world.mp3

does this matter in the MB Music Library?
In other words are MP3 filenames case sensitive in MB Music Library?

Similar question:

If I replace the MP3 file mentioned above with another file with exactly the same filename (but slightly different content)
does this matter in MB Music library?

Or is the new file silently replaced by the new in all internal MB Music Library entries?
