Questions / Re: Display Composer
« on: December 06, 2024, 08:09:11 PM »
Are they causing a problem, or just bothering you on principle?
I use MB for tagging only. Music listening happens via PowerAmp or Lyrion Music Server neither of wich can read these tags. And I like to keep files free from unnecessary tags.

Questions / Re: Display Composer

This is one that MusicBee adds automatically, just like Display Artist. It serves the same purpose: shows all values in the Composer tag as a single string (but can be modified by the user if desired).
Thanks for your replies everybody.
I seem to remember Display Artist was just an extra introduced a few years back and not something that Musicbee added automatically? Have I overlooked some changes?
Also I don't really understand why Musicbee would create it and then write it into a tag. I thought that these were exactly the cases Musicbee's database is for?
And most other programmes can display multiple composers without creating such tags.
How would I be able to create a filter for Display Artist or Display Composer? It is not in the dropdown list.

Don't add multiple composers?
You mean this is expected behaviour?

Questions / Display Composer
« on: December 02, 2024, 01:12:56 PM »
Hi, I have discovered that quite a few of my files have a tag "TXXX/Display Composer". It seems that MB does automatically create this tag when there is more than one composer but I sure didn't want this.
I now have two questions:
How can I select / find all the files with this tag and then batch delete this tag?
How can I prevent MB from making this field?
Thanks!

Plugins / Re: Additional Tagging & Reporting Tools

...but there is something wrong with the "copy tags to clipboard"-command. This command used to show an options window but no longer does so. How can I get this behaviour back?
Now it shows some presets that could be predefined. This would imply that you always carry out the same operation (useless for me). Alternatively there is an option available that copies all tags to the clipboard?

Hi,
I installed the latest version of your plugin in MB 3.5.
when I try to install the preset options I get "111 preset failed to install due to file read error or wrong format".
I have been following the READ ME-instructions. Maybe there is something else I have to copy or move?
Thanks for your support!

EDIT Oh, the "import"-command seems to do the job!

Questions / Re: Release Types seem to be tagged incorrectly

This is far from being a MusicBee bug report - a section which you posted this under.
Maybe this was a preset in MusicBee when making new tags? Aren't those fields populated automatically for each file type when creating new custom tags?

Questions / Release Types seem to be tagged incorrectly

Hello,
I have come across this thread and would like to bring it to the attention of MB... The op has difficulties with the release type tag in Musicbee and turns to Mp3tag for a solution.

Questions / Re: Year Tag
« on: September 18, 2023, 12:45:22 AM »
Thanks for getting back. No the values are the same, i.e. YYYY. Howeber, I think TDRC or TDRL would be capable of storing more information.
I had not been aware of the existence of TDRC or TDRL so I just want to check if I have files with these tags at all. I do my tagging with Musicbee, MP3tag and EAC.

Questions / Year Tag

Hi,
I need to check if my files have the year tagged by TDRC or TYER. How would I do this? Thanks!
I couldn't figure out how to set a filter

Questions / Re: Is anyone using the tag LYRICIST?
« on: September 13, 2023, 04:42:54 PM »
Thanks for the answers. I can see how lyricists make sense for specific genres but for mainly pop music listeners this is not so much an issue; the composing process is rather different.
In general, I like to have composer tags as they can provide hints to cover or original versions etc. but I can see that it's of little use for people not interested in this kind of stuff.
I would think of using lyricist-tags if I could split the composer tags automatically but there is no way I would do that manually.
I still listen to music via Logitech Media Server and composers can be displayed both in the 'all artists' and in the 'song information'-pages of its interface. This is not the case for lyricists.
Well for Cohen, his contribution to the composition of melodies are not easy to discern and the contribution of Sharon Robinson, e.g. here, remains unclear in Musicbrainz but I think we both agree that we listen to him not because of his melodies. . .

Questions / Is anyone using the tag LYRICIST?
« on: September 12, 2023, 11:47:00 PM »
Hi,
MB provides a way to include the writer of the lyrics with abovementioned tag. You may find it atop the 'lyrics'-box.
However I wonder how much sense it makes to include this:
Fact is that most songs are written and composed in a single process. There is no point in differentiate McCartney and Lennon into 'lyricist' and 'writer' etc.
There seems to be a very limited number of performers that will write lyrics or music only, such as Leonard Cohen or Morrissey. I cannot think of anybody else.
So, does anybody here actually use this tag-field at all?

Thanks for getting back.
I have found quite a cool workaround (I hope). I mapped the music folder as X: to the Windows PC that runs MusicBee so I did not have to do anything. I hope it keeps working.
So, my set-up is this:
I have a RPI4  with LMS&PCP that is connected via Hifiberry to my amplifier and via LAN to my home network.
A hard disk with all my music is connected via USB to the RPI4.
The RPI4 runs Samba so the music folder of the hard disk appears as a network drive on the Windows PC that runs MusicBee.
In MusicBee I can make changes to files / folders as I wish. I can also copy / move music to the hard drive etc.
I hope nothing breaks. As of now, this is pretty cool.

Questions / Connect to remote hard drive by simply replacing paths?
« on: July 10, 2023, 12:11:58 AM »
Hello,
I have moved my files to a hard drive attached to a picore player. This player can make music files available over the network.
Before, I had my files on a NAS and I had remapped one of its drives as X: to my windows machine.
So MB's library pointed to X\music where all files were stored.
Now all files are accessible under \\piCoreLMS\LMSfiles\Music.
Can I just replace the path under MB? (And how would I do this?) Or do I have to look after more?
Thanks for replies!

A difference spotted after exporting an MBP to an M3U:
the MBP can reference the subtrack of a file that comes along with a CUE sheet, whereas the M3U cannot.
Hm maybe. I never use cue sheets.
