Questions / Re: Sound is scrambled / distorted
« on: May 27, 2024, 08:24:54 AM »
I disabled all plugins and DSP, switched do Wasapi. Same problem.

Then I disabled the equaliser: problem fixed. The preset I'm using seems to be corrupt, the bands are in a wrong position. As soon as I touch one band, the problem is gone.

On a side note: MusicBee runs by default on my secondary screen. When I click the equaliser button, the window does not appear. When I move Musicbee to my primary screen, the equaliser window appears correctly when I click the button.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Problem is still there ... When I move the files local (to my desktop for example) the issue persists.

Questions / Sound is scrambled / distorted
« on: May 22, 2024, 11:05:04 AM »
Hi,
Since today all music I play in MB is heavily distorted. I play music from a NAS, but radio stations have the same problem.
The same music files play fine in Windows Media Player, VLC, Firefox, ... Windows sounds are also ok.
I tried changing audio player output and sound device in the preferences, but that does not solve it.
This morning I installed two Intel updates: bluetooth and wifi driver. I rolled back those drivers, but the problem persists.
I updated my motherboard specific audio drivers (MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk Wifi, realtek audio), but this didn't fix it either.
I installed the latest MusicBee version, but once again, no change.

You can find an audio sample here. It's the audio track stripped from a movie I made.
https://mb.yannig.eu/audio.mp3

And the settings file:
https://mb.yannig.eu/settings.ini

Any idea how I can fix this? I really don't want to change music player :)

Bug Reports / Re: Wrong bitrate and track length

For as far as I can see specifying what issues to look for is only possible after scanning, isn't it? I would like to speed things op by only looking for Xing issues.

- although the workflow isn't what I'd like it to be (no drag and drop, not possible to specify which issues to look for, etc).
- You can specify the issues to be checked and repaired by customising any of the four transformation presets.
- Indeed the absence of drag & drop is a pity, but you can make is so that you can add a folder by using the Windows context menu on a folder:

Hi Zak,

Thanks for your reply.

MP3Val was able to detect the problem, but wasn't able to fix it.

In the other thread you referred to, I found out about MP3Diags. Wow, impressive program. I didn't know my files had so many issues  ;D  I'm able to fix the issues with MP3Diags -- although the workflow isn't what I'd like it to be (no drag and drop, not possible to specify which issues to look for, etc).

Thanks!

Bug Reports / Wrong bitrate and track length
« on: November 03, 2022, 10:11:25 AM »
Hi,

I have a lot of files in my library with show the wrong bit rate and track length. I guess I ripped them at one point in a format which MusicBee doesn't recognize properly.

This is the properties window in MB, notice the bitrate and duration:

And this is (part of) the info from MediaInfo:

This messes with my Auto-Playlists, they have many false positives.

Apart from ripping all the files again in another format, is there a solution for this?

FYI, since I'm using this version, I haven't had a single crash. So many thanks for that ;)

Questions / Re: Playback stuttering

Also looking at a bug report from you elsewhere, could it be you have some duplicate MusicBee folders on your system?
Perhaps a secondary install you once did over/in addition to another one?

(for one thing, I would suggest updating to 3.5)

Yes, I had two versions on my system, the one I always use (3.5.8225 since this morning, recommended by Steven), and 3.4 Store version. I just removed the Store version.

Could two installed versions cause the glitches?

that doesnt correspond to the settings file you sent

Ok 🤷‍♂️ 😂

What does that mean, and what can I do?  :)

I've been a bit too quick :)

For one day everything went fine. The next day, without anything changing to my knowledge, the stutters and rare freezes are back.

I'll see what happens with GPU acceleration in Lightroom Classic turned off.

Found the settings :)

They look pretty default to me, no?

Thanks for looking into this ;)

I'm almost always in the Now Playing panel. I'm not sure I've changed something to the layout. Here are my Layout preferences:

I'm not sure how I should configure the layout from the preferences now that I look into it :)

These errors happen seemingly random during playback. I guess I have them maybe three times a day.

When I click ok, the message disappears briefly, and then returns.
I have to close MB to resume playback without errors.

Questions / Re: Playback stuttering

Update: I've been working in Lightroom for a couple of hours now after switching to the Nvidia Game Ready drivers.

I've had no more clicks/stuttering at all  :)

LatencyMon and hiccup pointed me in the right direction, thanks for that ;)

Hi hiccup,

Thanks for the reply and the welcome.

Yes, some updates have been performed. I guess the most meaningful are these: Lightroom Classic was updated, and my Nvidia driver as well. I've been using the Studio Drivers for a long time.

The glitches are unbearable even with Lightroom Classic set to the lowest priority in task manager. (for the record: I'd rather have Lightroom Classic set to a higher priority since it's what I'm using my computer for ...)

Increasing the priority of MusicBee seems to help a little bit, but doesn't solve the issue.

LatencyMon consistently reports nvlddmkm.sys as the driver with the highest DPC execution time (668µs in this session), so I'm looking at my graphics driver right now.

I'm switching from the Studio Driver to the Game Ready driver, and I'll see what happens. By the way, I'm using an RTX 2060.

Also good to know: my music (mainly MP3's) are on a slowish NAS (~10MB/s transfer speed).
The clicks also occur when I'm streaming (very stable 270Mbps download/19Mbps upload/42ms download latency).
