Questions / A 64-bit version
« on: March 17, 2025, 02:09:46 PM »
Someone asked whether there was any hope of their being a 64-bit version of the program. That seems a reasonable question. It is a question that I have myself. I could not reply to the previous thread, though. That is because that thread, apparently, has been moved to the 'bin' and when I click a link - a link seemingly to the bin, that link being something that accompanies the message about the binning of the post - I see an error message.

I have a gripe or two about the program (perhaps I'll post them elsewhere on the forum) but I thought it worth expressing the following positive sentiments. Mostly, the program does what I want, and, goodness, and even though I am very picky, I love the way it looks. (I forget, and cannot easily see, whether I have customised how the program looks. But I have it in a dark theme that is really lovely as well as functional.) Here's a screenshot (though it is low-res):

PS: argh - here's a gripe, but about this forum. To wit: the preview text (not the text as one types it) is much too faint!

@psychoadept

Hello there.

On MusicBee 3.5.8150, I cannot find the filter for missing artwork.

I managed to find tools -> artwork -> downloader, but it seems to offer the ability only to download covers for a few albums - and those were albums for the currently selected artist.

I found tools -> artwork -> album artwork manager, but clicking it seems to do nothing.

All of this seems jolly confusing to me! (Still, I am grateful for the software, which in other respects works well.)

. . But when I restart the application, then new files are found.

General Discussions / Virus Total does not like version 3.5.8150
« on: May 26, 2022, 03:27:42 AM »
See here.

Still, seemingly VirusTotal cannot count - it says '4 security vendors [. .] flagged this file as malicious' but I see only two on its page - and the two vendors (really) at issue are not ones that I have heard of.

Questions / Songs play automatically even when auto-DJ is off
« on: May 26, 2022, 02:54:23 AM »
Hello!

I started playing a song. Auto-DJ was on. I turned it off (by unclicking its icon, in the bottom right of the screen). But a new song played when the current one finished. And then the same happened again.

I would give my version of MusicBee, but there seems to be no 'about' option within the program. Oh, it is filed under 'help' (for some reason). It's version 3.4.8033,

General Discussions / Downloads: an updater on Mega?
« on: January 04, 2022, 02:23:20 PM »
Hello there

1) Surely the user does not expect the standard installer to take the form of a file hosted on 'Mega'? I know I did not. (Also, the file took a long while to start downloading.)

2) The presence of the word 'update' within the file name suggests somewhat that the file is not a from-scratch updater (which actually it is) but rather a patcher.

3) Whilst the zip file (which is what the download was) gets a clean bill of health from VirusTotal, the unzipped file does not.

I appreciate that resources are limited, but there are improvements one could make costlessly. To wit: a) tell the user the file is on Mega and is zipped; b) change the name of the file; c) tell the user that VirusTotal will yield one false positive. (Well, certainly I hope that it is a false positive.)

MusicBee Wishlist / It should be clearer which song is playing
« on: May 19, 2021, 03:09:14 PM »
Please see this screenshot:

Which song do you think is playing? The song that actually is playing is the one, of the two highlighted songs, that . . stands out less than the other. That is:'Got Glint' is the song playing. I submit that here we see that the UI needs a change.

Questions / MusicBee.exe seems 32-bit
« on: June 17, 2020, 04:06:14 AM »
On my Windows 10 system, ProcessLasso reports MusicBee.exe as 32-bit and indeed that file is within the 'Program Files (x86)' directory. Also - but I think this may be related - MusicBee uses little CPU but does keep my CPU pegged at a high-frequency.

Why is MusicBee not 64-bit, please?

Thanks.
