Oooooh, I had no idea that MusicBee had the native ability to convert files to Flac, I thought I'd have to use another program or something. Hahaha.

Thanks for all the fantastic information folks!  :)

I'll let you know if anything goes wrong or I need any more help at all, but for now I'm super happy! :D

Thanks for the suggestions Hiccup. I have now uninstalled the store version of MusicBee and am nowusing the normal installation version.

As for converting files to Flac, do you have any suggestions on the best way to do that?

Ps. Thanks for the help so far folks!

Ok, so I rescanned the files with tags and they returned to normal!
For the other files I tried to edit the information but none of that showed up in the tag inspector, which is weird.

Any ideas?

Ps. The files without tags are .wav files

So, I've just had a look in the tag inspector and all the files that are "officially released by a big record label" (e.g. Prodigy or The Cinematic Orchestra) have tags in the tag inspector.

However, all the other files are released via a free psytrance net-label (Ektoplazm) and they don't have any tags in the tag inspector, but I'm not surprised by this because they're an independent net-label and everything I've downloaded from there in the past has needed tagging.

Not too sure if there's any information I might be able to find in the tag inspector (for the files that are tagged) that might be useful, but let me know if so and I'll see what I can find.

Also MB hasn't said that the files are read-only but I'll try and install the portable version of MB and see if anything changes.

MusicBee Version: 3.3.7491 Store
OS: Windows 10

Problem

Step 1: Files were added to MusicBee. They show up under Artist & Album Artist as [Unknown].

Step 2: I spend time re-tagging those files with all the correct information. They now show up under the correct Artist & Album Artist. Everything is fine.

Step 3: I continue to use MusicBee and things continue to be fine for an unknown amount of time. I genuinely don't know how long it is, but it's definitely less than a year.

Step 4: I open up MusicBee one day and those files have randomly reverted back to their original (untagged) state.

The first few times this happened I got vaguely annoyed and just retagged the files because I just assumed it was a random issue, but this is the 3rd time it has happened and I'm getting super frustrated!

I believe it's always the same files but I can't be 100% certain on that. I know for certain though that it keeps happening to particular artists, so it's "consistent" in that way.

Below is a screenshot of how the files look in MusicBee and I've got a link to a Spreadsheet with all the file data (using the Additional Tagging Tools plugin).

If you need any more information then let me know but unfortunately I'm not that well versed in MusicBee or the ins and outs of file tagging etc. etc. so please let me know how to get the information and I'll see what I can do.

The link to the spreadsheet with the file data is here

Information:

Musicbee Version: 3.3.7491 Store

Plugins Used: Additional Tagging Tools - Version: 5.0.7049

Hi folks,

I'm having issues with the Additional Tagging Tools plugin and auto-rating my tracks in Musicbee.

It seems to be working mostly fine, except for the fact that occasionally some of my tracks are being rated at very high values; 50 being the highest.

I'm very confused as to how a track can be rated at 50 when (to the best of my knowledge) the rating is out of 5.

Here is a screenshot of the settings I'm using to auto-rate my tracks.

Side Issue: I'm not sure what settings would be best to use so if anyone has any better suggestions on that then let me know.

Attached is a Google Sheets spreadsheet with my entire library in it with the information as follows;

1. Album Artist (Displayed)
2. Album
3. (Track) Title
4. (Date) Last Played
5. DateValue - converts date into format where I can calculate the number of days since a track is played)
6. Days Since Played
7. Rating
8. Custom8 - Number of plays per day (calculated by Auto-rate)
9. Average value(Play Count/URL)
10. Average value(Skip Count/URL)
11. Average value(Rating/URL)
12. Todays Date (Will automatically update as each day passes)

The Spreadsheet is https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15OYaYM4ARKX_XOPDNNY2M_6niFdoJspqwL9htidA3Ro/edit?usp=sharing

If anyone has any ides or help with this issue then that would be amazing!

Like I said, the auto-rating mostly seems to be working fine, it's just some random, very high values that have got me really, really, confused.

Thanks for the replies folks! I'll try it again and then look at the error log that comes up, and if that doesn't give me any information, I'll do it bit by bit and see what happens.  :)

Hey folks,

Every time I try to use the Analyse Volume tool in MB (on all my tracks), it gets to somewhere around the end of the artists starting with A and then just shuts down unexpectedly.

There's nothing I can post to go with this because literally, all that happens is that MB shuts down, with no error messages, or anything.

I'm using the Analyse Volume tool in the following way;

1. On track basis
2. Alert when the replaygain adjustment would cause clipping
3. Adjust calculated replaygain values: 0dB

Anyone got any ideas?

MB seems to be working fine in all other aspects so I don't have any idea what could be causing this issue.

Thanks

Oh yeah, you're right, it's the "additional tagging tools" plugin. I forgot that it wasn't native to MB. My apologies. HAha.

Hi Steven, the error isn't happening regularly but only started today. Turning off "auto rate on startup" seems to have fixed the issue though so if the error message I posted isn't anything serious then I'm all happy and sorted!  :D

Hey folks,

I've just opened Musicbee this morning and it just started giving me the error message below for some unknown reason.

I believe it might have something to do with "Auto Rate" function that I recently started using but I'm not sure. I set it to "Auto rate on startup" but I'm 100% sure if that's the issue or not.

If anyone has any ideas then I'd be very grateful for your suggestions!  :)

Hi phred, you are correct. I am using the Additional Tagging & Reporting Tools plugin. Please go ahead and move this query to the correct part of the forum.  :)

Thanks a lot!

Questions / Library Reports - Strange Output - Musicbee version
« on: August 22, 2019, 03:10:02 PM »
Hey folks, first time posting here so please excuse me if I make any post errors. I also apologise because I can't find which version of Musicbee I'm running - (I started using it within the last 6 months if that helps.)

I am having some issues using the Musicbee Library Reports function.

I can't remember whether this is built into Musicbee or whether it's a Plugin I am using so I apologise for that.

Whenever I try to use the Library Reports I keep getting weird, "useless" data in my output.

The output inputs things like ALL TAGS 'ALBUM ARTIST (DISPLAYED)' at random intervals throughout each column, for no apparent reason, and without any logic I can find.

EDITED: The original picture would not load.

You can see this below...

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Fiona
