Portable Devices / Re: Wifi android device synching
« on: July 08, 2022, 03:18:52 AM »
I'm having an issue where changes (to ratings) aren't being pushed back from GMMP via MusicBee Wifi Sync to MB (from an Android 12 device).

You need to have the paid version of GMMP for it to do any reverse syncing.

It also could be a permissions issue with Android 12. I'm surprised you were able to get it to sync in the first place as most people get stuck in the loop of selecting the sync folder and it popping up an error about it not being the root directory. There is a solution to that on previous pages of this thread.

It might be a permission issue. I've got the paid GMMP and can sync files, but just not reverse sync ratings. So far haven't found anything on this thread (but might have mixed it).

I'll see if I can reproduce what I did to avoid that permission issue.

I'm having an issue where changes (to ratings) aren't being pushed back from GMMP via MusicBee Wifi Sync to MB (from an Android 12 device).

That is, the sync seems to "work" in that I am able to run it and get a "Musicbee synchronization successfully completed" on the app - it's just that Musicbee doesn't pick up any changes.

WiFi sync WILL push changes from MB to GMMP. So if I change ratings, delete songs in MB and WiFi Sync it will show up in GMMP. But I cannot get reverse sync to show up, it seems to "work" in that it runs without issues, its just that the changes never show up in MB.

Perhaps this is the same issue everyone is having with Android 12? Or no.

Hi, I'm trying to find a way to reverese sync my music - like many a lost soul I have migrated through the void from iTunes and iPod to iSyncr to doubleTwist and now to Musicbee. It has been a long journey! I also have to say, the ease of moving my iTunes database to Musicbee was a joy.

I'm trying to determine what other users here are having success with to (a) get an Android 12 music player to recognize Musicbee ratings and (b) reverse sync them back to Musicbee.

I've read a ton of threads here on this issue and still had some questions I wasn't able to figure out:

1) Is it even possible to reverse sync ratings via the wired method? While I'd love to go Wifi Sync, I understand there are issues with Android 12 so at this point I'd be very happy to have a slow wired sync.

2) I know most users say to use PowerAmp or GoneMad. I have unfortunately not been able to get either to properly read MB ratings. PowerAmp won't read any (I have the unlocked version) and GMMP (trial version) will only read some ratings (but not all). PowerAmp also will not reverse sync a song (wired) once I've rated it.

I understand this isn't a PowerAmp or GMMP forum (and I have posted in those places). But I'm curious what, if anything, you've been able to do to get ratings to sync properly? I've tried changing the mp3 tags as well (eg. Id3V2.4) so far without luck. I haven't changed the other settings so ratings are being stored in the music file, etc.

Any help is appreciated.

I'm curious how everyone is syncing their podcasts/audiobooks between MB & portable devices.

I'm using two devices: an android phone (with Rocket Player) and a Fiio M6.

Podcasts (but not audiobooks so far) seem to work with the phone. But Fiio's system doesn't seem to easily include podcasts and audiobooks? And as far as I can tell it doesn't auto-remember your location?

I know there are at least a few other Fiio users here and I figure most non-phone devices are probably pretty similar.

So what's your solution?

Thanks!

Portable Devices / 2 way sync w/android or DAP?
« on: March 08, 2019, 08:17:52 PM »
Hi,

In reading over the website and forum it seems that there is no way to sync ratings on an android back to MB. I understand this is because there is no "MB player" for android (is there a preferred/recommended paid/unpaid android music players with MB?). As of 2018 this seemed to be the case.

Is that still true?

And for those using other DAPs like Fiio, is 2 way sync possible in that situation?

Thanks!

Questions / Re: Musicbee sync w/Android (and general music management)
« on: February 26, 2019, 06:38:33 AM »
It seems Musicbee will sync fine with Fiio DAPs (although doesn't with iPod) which would force an immediate switch. That's fine. But it doesn't seem to sync playlists between a non-rooted android and itself (ideally over WiFi).  I've read everything I can here and elsewhere without a specific solution. I can sync over WiFi but not with playlists (and ideally ratings that sync both directions).
MB syncs music tracks/albums and playlists just fine with a wired (USB) connection to my non-rooted Samsung S8 and my non-rooted FiiO X5 which uses an old Android OS (5.1.1) What issue are you having specifically when trying to sync? Have you checked MB's error log when it doesn't sync?

And WiFi sync for Android is coming. It's currently being tested by a few hearty souls. https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=27681.0

Thanks for the response.  I thought I'd tried every option but I seemed to find a specific setting that allowed it to sync. Now that I'm able to get the songs on my phone via USB, I'll play around with it. But I'd given up (also after finding inconclusive answers on various threads elsewhere) and your comment caused me to come at it again. Thanks.

Questions / Musicbee sync w/Android (and general music management)
« on: February 23, 2019, 07:26:13 PM »
Hi all I'm finally trying to move to the 21st century and away from my current setup of wired headphones + iTunes + iPod nano.

What I'd like to do is setup syncing between my iPod (soon to be Fiio?), android, and desktop music manager (Musicbee).

*Phone*: I use a DAP (currently iPod, looking to upgrade probably to Fiio) because of battery issues and for running and the gym where I've smashed a DAP before.

*DAP* Currently iPod, thinking Fiio next but presents problems with syncing with iTunes. I've wanted to get away from iTunes for a decade and am finally doing it (and have setup Musicbee which was a fairly painless process). Thanks to the people that made that so easy!

*Music Manager*: I've really invested heavily in my music curation and playlists and podcasts/audiobooks, something that lets me keep this (like Musicbee) is essential. This has ruled out other systems like Spotify or Google Play Music.

Is there a way to setup Musicbee this way or do I need to look for other solutions?
