Thanks psychoadept.

Looks like a 'work' is exactly what I am thinking about when referring to linking tracks!

Thanks again for your help 8)  8)

Thanks guys.

It looks like I have confused myself more than I needed to.

The reason my grouping tags work for this exercise is because I had set 'Select by: Grouping' in auto playlist settings.  As frankz pointed out... "Keep tracks in sequence when shuffling" will do exactly what I need, if I set auto playlist setting to 'Select by: Track'.  Skinning a cat of course.

I'm struggling a little to wrap my head around the 'work' concept and how that differs from assigning a 'Grouping' tag.  Could you please give examples of how 'work' and 'grouping'  serve different purposes?  I think I understand how they could serve the same purpose, but can't see what sets them apart.

Thanks again guys

Hey frankz,

Thanks for the reply.

I do understand what you're saying, and I should have been clearer in my post.  In my very brief testing.. setting "Keep tracks in sequence when shuffling" to yes (and checking the box) doesn't seem to work when shuffling an auto playlist.  It didn't work during my testing because I had contradicting settings in my auto playlist.

I haven't confirmed my theory... by my initial assumption was:
Keep tracks in sequence when shuffling - keeps tracks in sequence when using shuffle playback
Grouping tag - allows tracks to be linked when force shuffling

Happy to be corrected on the above, just my uneducated understanding of the features

Hi psychoadept,

Thanks a lot for the reply and suggestion.  I like the idea of using the auto playlist, and shuffling that..but could you please explain how to get the auto playlist to shuffle and also keep the linked tracks together?

I've generated the auto playlist, with my 'Burn' playlist as a source, which worked fine.  But I can't figure out how to shuffle the list and keep linked tracks together.

Thanks again.

---EDIT---

I should add... I have selected "Shuffle: Random" in the playlist settings.. but still doesn't quite work.

---EDIT---

Ummm... doofus move, I had picked 'Artist' column to sort by, rather than the playlist order.  Working now! Thanks a lot for the help psychoadept!

---EDIT---

I've reliased that I am able to link tracks by using the 'Grouping' tag.. but not the "Keep Tracks in Sequence When Shuffling" check box.

Hey,

I've done a bit of searching and found a few questions similar to what I'm asking... but not quite the same purpose.

I make playlists to burn CDs (yep... still burning CDs to listen to in the car  :D )

I usually build the playlist manually, and then shuffle the list once or twice before burning the CD.  Right click list > List > Suffle List, then Update Play Order to cement the shuffled order, then burn.

After having shuffled the list, I would like the 'linked tracks' to stay in their linked sequence.  But after shuffling the playlist, I can see that the linked tracks have been shuffled in with the rest of the playlist.

Does anyone know how to do what I'm attempting?  Or any better workflow?

Thanks for any help

Bug Reports / Re: drag & drop bug (?): moving files instead of copying
« on: December 28, 2017, 02:01:35 AM »
Hey guys,

I'm having a similar issue, but only related to MusicBee & Directory Opus.

I am able to drag & drop COPY into windows explorer, when holding down CTRL.  No problem.

I cannot drag & drop COPY or MOVE into Directory Opus.  It does nothing.  This used to work with DOpus the same as explorer, until I updated to latest version of MusicBee (previous version was an older one, can't remember exactly which version sorry).

Has the drag & drop function been changed in the last few versions?

Music file lives at:
D:\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\Like Moths To Flames\Dark Divine\01 New Plagues.mp3

Trying to drag & copy to:
D:\Music\_Google Play Music

Thanks for any help

Plugins / Re: Last.fm Playlist Generator

Great plug-in, thanks a lot for this.

To create a last.fm playlist, right-click in the song list or library panel.  Last.fm playlist menu should be at bottom of context menu.

Questions / Re: Inconsistent Results with Auto-Playlist Lyric Filter

Ahhh, I see.

I have now done the "Send to > File Rescan", for a few files - and the are appearing in the playlist!  That appears to have done the trick.  Is the "Send to > File Rescan" task performed when doing a "Scan folders for new files"?  What would be the best way to rescan the entire library (Select all > Send to > File Rescan?)?

Thanks for your help with this Redwing.

Hi Redwing,

Thanks a lot for the reply & suggestion.

I'm still getting mixed results...  I rescanned lyrics for a batch of songs (some of which I knew had 'circle' in the lyrics), and the correct songs were then added to the "circle lyric playlist", so that was good.

Then I tried rescanning another batch of songs, and all of the songs in the "circle lyric playlist" have been removed.

So even with lyrics embedded in files, and lyrics containing "circle"... the playlist is unable to detect them.

Questions / Inconsistent Results with Auto-Playlist Lyric Filter
« on: July 13, 2017, 09:30:36 AM »
Hi,

I have created an auto-playlist with a filter for lyric content (I'd like to find songs that contain the word 'circle' in the lyrics), but I'm getting inconsistent results when refreshing the playlist.  Just wondering if someone could please help me find the cause.

I initially created an auto-playlist to test the lyric filter, which seemed to work well.  I then began batch 'Auto-Tag by Track > Update missing lyrics', and each time I "Update missing lyrics" the auto-playlist results get reduced .

So initially I might have had 100 songs in my auto-playlist.  Then I "Update missing lyrics", and the auto-playlist now has only 20 songs in it.  Then I "Update missing lyrics" again, and the auto-playlist now has only 4 songs in it.

My auto-playlist filter is:

Has anyone seen this before?  Anyone know of a solution?

Thanks for any help.
