Portable Devices / Re: Same songs being added at every sync
« on: January 02, 2021, 09:41:58 PM »
I'm having a similar issue. I see that sync works great for a lot of people, it has never worked correctly for me on any version of MusicBee. I'm currently running MusicBee 3.3.7365, with Android v10, Kernel 4.9.186 on an Galaxy S9+. (note that in the past I've used other versions of phones always running Android).

When I try to sync, I have to set the device up and configure it, and it syncs just fine. But, if I later try to sync the same device MusicBee either sees it as a new device, in which case I have to re-configure everything for syncing, or it sees it as an existing device but wants to copy everything again. Bottom line, is that it never syncs new files. It just wants to re-sync everything, every time, which is extremely time consuming and frustrating.

Currently, my devices in MusicBee show six instances of my phone - the last time I screwed around with this I deleted all of them to clean it up, but here we are again.

I've also tried to make a virtual device folder on my SD card (on my phone), but it doesn't work. MusicBee will allow me to create a new folder, but it will not allow me to set that as the sync device.

Any help would be appreciated.

Questions / Duplicate Device(s)
« on: June 26, 2018, 01:10:11 AM »
Musicbee always sees my device as a new device every time I connect it. It's the same phone (Galaxy S7, now running Oreo), same name, etc. Musicbee does recognize the device, again with the same name, but it always adds it as a new device and I cannot transfer the settings/configuration to the new device so I have to reconfigure it all over again.

This also causes the sync to not work correctly. Because it sees it as a new device, it won't do things like update a playlist or remove songs that I don't want on there anymore. I have to wipe everything out and the transfer my library again. It's kind of a PITA.

Musicbee has done this on every version I've used (currently using v3.1.6590) and on multiple computers. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anyway to fix it?

Questions / PS3 Unable to Play w/UPnP Plugin
« on: August 26, 2016, 03:46:47 PM »
I'm using MusicBee 3.0.5995 with the UPnP plugin. It worked beautifully with my PS3, once. As in a single time, and it's never worked since.

The PS3 is able to see the media player. It can also see the playlists, artists, albums, genres, and everything else. However, when I select any of them (a particular artist, playlist, or album) the PS3 indicates that there aren't any titles so I can't play anything.

I've tried re-initializing MusicBee and rebooting the PC with no luck. My Roku can see and play everything just fine, but it's a terrible media player. I've also tried turning the firewall completely off and no change.

Has anyone else come across this?

I'm using v2.5.5804.

With regards to the volume analysis - one source was here:
http://www.getmusicbee.com/help/reference/en/Normalising_Playback_Volume/

and another was here (look at pic on right-hand):
http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Analyze_Volume

As you can see, even both of those look different.

my version looks somewhat different from either of them and mentions nothing about permanent changes, so I'm just trying to understand if it is, or isn't, permanently changing the volume (or just adding the tag).

Thx!

Questions / Sync copies all files every time / volume tagging. Help!
« on: April 27, 2016, 11:38:51 PM »
I am new to MusicBee, so my apologies if someone has already asked these questions or if they seem trivial.

I am syncing MusicBee to my phone. I can get it to sync, but it wants to copy all of the files to sync every time. Shouldn't it only copy new files or something? Is this a setting that I am missing?

Secondly, I looked at all of the help documents on tagging music with the volume information. All of the documentation I could find had a radio button to indicate to add tags only, and a different one to permanently set the volume level. I must be using a different (newer?) version because this does not appear to be an option anymore. Does that mean that it only tags the files and is not capable of physically changing the volume of the file?

TIA...
