Do you perhaps have 'enable custom sort values…' enabled?
That could overrule the default 'ignore The' functionality.

Enable Custom sort values is Unchecked.

And about the A-Z jumpbar:
What view for the main panel are you using?
If it's 'Album Covers', perhaps you have set some grouping?
Then the A-Z bar will try to match the grouping item.

My view is 'Album & Tracks'. It has album Covers on LH side.

I just fired up my old PC and MB works as expected. Jump list is OK and all artists correctly sorted.
When I got my new PC all I did was download MB and transferred my settings from old to new PC.

Anything else I can try to troubleshoot?

Based on the 3 artists in the screen shot it does appear that way, but that is misleading. I can assure you my library is not in alphabetical order.

Only the artists with 'The' in the name seem to be in alphabetical order but other artists are not. Here is a partial list of what I see;

Taylor Swift
The Beach Boys
The Church
The Lumineers
Pychedelic Furs
The Rolling Stones
The Who
Tom Petty
U2

Updated to ver 3.4.7805. and did Library rescan. No change in behaviour.

The checkbox to ignore 'the' was already ticked. 

How do I upload the Settings.ini file as jpg or png. The ini file is long & I can't snip past the limit of my screen?

Hello,
Background; I have got a new PC & I copied my settings etc from old PC to new PC. Running ver 3.3.7491.

I have 2 problems that may be related?

1. The A-Z Jump List is not working. When I click on 'A' MB jumps to A, but when I click on other letters MB either does nothing or jumps to 'Z'? Eg click say 'M' nothing happens.

2. I want to ignore 'The' in Artist names in my layout. Preferences > Sorting/Grouping > is checked to ignore 'The'.
    I actually took 'The' out of The Pychedelic Furs using the Tag editor but MB still shows it under 'T'

Any assistance would be welcome.

Thanks for quick reply Phred, but I already tried that.

Just to prove it again, I opened MB and noted in the splashscreen it said 'Sunset' as the skin.

But when I go to View > Skins 'Sunset' is not ticked? Nor is any other skin ticked apart from 'Random Skin'?

I'm not very hopeful of achieving a satisfactory solution based on your response.

But I guess my real question is; How do people use MB as their 'player' when you want to play to Dac/Amp/Speakers (Main Hifi) located in another room?

Surely this must be a requirement for many people?

I have been doing some reading on this, but, I have drawn a blank.

Currently I have Win 7 PC with LMS in my study connected via LAN to Squeezebox Touch in the lounge room (20m away) which connects to DAC > Amp >  floor standing speakers.

But I would much prefer to use the superior MB (LMS is a little clunky) as my ‘server’ instead of LMS.   So chain would be MB > LAN > SBT > DAC > Amp.

Is this even possible? If so, how? (Caveat; must play Flac)
If not; how do people use MB when the PC is some distance away from Amp / speakers?

Could I control it via MB remote phone app?

I fear this is unlikely.

I am using V2.5 and I'm a real fan of MB.

But I have read the wiki for V3.0 and read the posts here and to be honest I am dreading upgrading to V3.0.
I know it will take me many hours to get MB to function / look as I would like it to be. Its an old cliché but 'too much choice leads to confusion'.

I really like the idea of a choice of std layouts the User can select to get MB up and running from the get go. Then when I have some time, I can 'play' with the settings to see what suits me.

I want to enjoy my music first and tweak later.


Congrats on an excellent music player.

I have MB installed on my laptop. I am interested in getting the app on my phone to control MB.  But I have never downloaded an app to a phone before.
Do I need to do anything on the laptop to enable remote control?
Are there any step by step instructions I can follow?

Questions / No Tags in windows Explorer

Hello All,
I have just started using MusicBee. I have ripped a couple of CDs in Flac. When I go to 'Computer' within MB, I can see my files with all the relevant tags.

1. However when I navigate to Windows Explorer (win7) to view the same ripped CD, I can see only 'Name' and 'size'?  No 'Album name', no 'artist name' or no 'title'?  Is this normal behaviour? Have I got a setting wrong?

2. I want to buy a streamer & I need some flac files to take to shop for audition. I have done this before using MP3 files which I just copied from windows explorer to USB.  Can I do this with these flac files?  If so, how? Do they need music bee to play?

Sorry for newbie questions.
