Bug Reports / Re: 3.0.5929 - Crash on Closing Tabs
« on: March 26, 2016, 10:45:12 PM »
Sorry but the error log doesn't have an entry for the crash.
I guess it might have to do with the visualizer tab (Milkdrop) which I just noticed crashes MB when it is selected with no track playing.
Closing the tab which led to the crash may have made MB switch to the visualizer tab (which was to the left of the closed tab).
I just re-installed version 3.0.5909 and selecting the Milkdrop-tab with no track playing leads to a crash as well (no crash when using a different visualizer). Might be the plugin then. Sorry for the false alert.

Bug Reports / 3.0.5929 - Crash on Closing Tabs
« on: March 26, 2016, 09:29:02 PM »
Just installed the latest version and MB crashes when I close a tab.

EDIT: I now switched through the open tabs and started playing a file and it didn't crash when I closed the tabs that caused the error before. When it crashed I tried closing tabs directly after start-up.

Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't discovered that possibility yet and will try it out.

I'm bumping this thread to ask if this feature is still on the radar (or has it been implemented in the meantime and I missed the settings?), bc it would make using separate libraries for classical music/jazz etc. so much more useful.

Don't know if that's something that has to be addressed at skin- or program-level but I thought it might be a nice piece of eye candy in artwork view if there was an option to "dim" the brightness of the album covers except for the one currently playing, so that it stands out vis-à-vis the rest.

EDIT: I also wish there was an option to automatically use an artist picture if there isn't an album cover available (instead of the "no cover"-dummy) - and I apologize if that option already exists and I just haven't found it (wouldn't be the first time).

MusicBee Wishlist / Track Information panel filter functionality
« on: January 09, 2013, 11:23:30 AM »
A feature I like a lot is that the track information panel provides a kind of instant filter if you click on either artist or album of the track you are currently listening to. I just wish that functionality wouldn't be restricted to those two properties but that I could also filter by other fields, especially by year and track title (if you have a lot of jazz titles in your library, it's not uncommon that you have several recordings of a jazz standard by different artists).

Wonder if it would possible to offer that option in the Album and Tracks-view as well, since - if you display the additional information  below the album cover -  an album sometimes takes up more vertical space than is needed if it doesn't have that many tracks.

Unless there is a new setting I didn't find, version 2.1.4708 seems to behave like the previous versions. Clicking on the "episode date" header puts the newest episodes to the bottom of the list but doesn't influence playback order:  It always plays from new to old (like before).

ok good point about the need to scroll to the bottom so i will change it so the playback order is from oldest to newest

Excellent, that solution is better than my own idea.

Thank you for the reply.

5 should already be the case if the podcast is downloaded and played from the podcasts panel, unless you disable 'remember playback position' in the file settings.
Oh well  :-[ , thanks for pointing that out. I usually don't download the podcasts I listen to with MB so I never noticed.

3. has been addressed already:

That certainly is an improvement. It seems the playing order depends on the sorting order of "episode date" now. If the list of podcast episodes is longer (say, because one doesn't want to limit it to the most recent 10 episodes or so), one has to scroll quite a bit now, to get to the episodes one wants to listen to if one changes the direction of the sort order. A global setting for podcasts (play in order from newest to oldest/oldest to newest episode).

1. Allow grouping of podcasts ("news-channel", "sports-channel" etc.)
2. Update new episode counter even if preference is not to download latest episode (new episode on server instead of new episode downloaded).
3. Allow episode listening order from older to new (right now, if you listen to an episode, the next episode on the the playlist is automatically the next older one unless there is a setting I have overlooked).
4. In auto-sync settings with external device make the "delete tracks that are not on the auto-sync list" feature more granular, allowing to specify the playlists that should be handled that way (say, don't delete tracks on playlist "music" but delete tracks on playlist "podcasts"). Alternatively allow to automatically delete podcasts on the device that have a certain play count on the external device (if that information is available).
5. If possible introduce option to remember at which time an episode was stopped if one didn't listen to the complete episode and to start from that point the next time this episode is played.

EDIT1: 6. Thought about something else. Instead of just the layout where the podcast episodes are grouped according to podcast, I'd like an alternative view where you can see episodes grouped by episode date or alternatively something like a "track detail" layout, where you can sort globally and not just "inside" the podcasts.

EDIT2:  7. Option to "move" podcasts to external device instead of just "copying" them.

Thanks
Carsten

MusicBee Wishlist / Associate Tracks
« on: September 22, 2011, 08:03:49 AM »
On some albums there are tracks that obviously belong together - often a shorter one serving as an introduction of a longer "main track". I wonder if it were possible to implement a function where the user can assign that these tracks "belong together" or are "associated" and therefore shouldn't be separated when using autoplaylists, the auto-DJ or other shuffle functions.
So when one of the "associated" tracks is chosen for playback in one of the auto-modes the other tracks are automatically played back as well in their right order.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: No "duplicate artists" in autoplaylist

>sondermann, AutoDJ can avoid duplicate artists; maybe that's another viable option?

Thanks for the tip, never tried that out. As far as I can see, it is not possible though to save presets with AutoDJ although I guess one could create different playlists and then choose the appropriate one out of the AutoDJ dialogue.

MusicBee Wishlist / No "duplicate artists" in autoplaylist
« on: July 29, 2011, 04:09:32 PM »
Would it be possible to add an option in the Edit Auto-Playlist dialogue that from each artist there is only one item (assuming one chooses to limit the number of items in the auto-playlist)?
