Questions / Re: MouseWheel to Skip Forward or Backward
« on: May 21, 2016, 10:27:53 AM »
Hi. You can do it with this utility https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/xmousebuttoncontrol.htm (it's powerful, yet light on resources)
Afaik there is no way to do it in MusicBee itself.

OK, I'll check later on my system if I can reproduce this issue and fix. Be patient :)

Ok, forget about the search. In windows 10 you can open settings > display

tell me what is the percentage.

Ok, first of all please download the skin for MBv3 https://www.dropbox.com/s/foh0z0x1xalcn70/MidnightMETRO3.xmlc?dl=0
also make sure you're running the latest beta http://musicbee.niblseed.com/V3_0/MusicBee3_Patched.zip

Dpi is a system setting, that's why I've asked you to open the start menu. Just search the system settings for dpi. I think that this may be causing this issue and maybe I could reproduce it and fix the problem.

It's a setting that adjusts the size of interface elements on your screen. Hit the windows key and type "dpi" it should find the appropriate setting, open that and check what is the value.

Thanks for the kind words. What dpi setting are you using?

Ok. I'll mark it as obsolete for v3.

But what's still weird is that if I have the other two like this:

<element id="TabsBar.TabAddButton.Default" bg="0,255,1" fg="255,1,0" />
<element id="TabsBar.TabInCaptionBarAddButton.Default" bg="0,255,2" fg="255,2,0" />

Both fg's are displaying correct. (while the bg's don't do anything)
But if I then remove the bg's, the fg's don't work anymore.
Maybe it would make things easier if Steven maintained a reference skin.

Hey
Is there a list of added and removed elements for v3 skins or a reference skin that has all of the supported elements?

I feel it would make more sense to merge the thumbnail browser with the column browser, adding an option for some columns to toggle thumbnails.

I think the mockup i posted earlier solves the problem of complex configuration windows. I've highlighted the important elements in case you missed it :)

BTW I'd like to see two added layout features from 3.0 though I don't know it's planned or even possible.
- drag & drop of each panel/element to change its location

That's what i was thinking too. A truly modular interface, which lets you drag and drop elements like now playing list, lyrics, player controls etc.
There could be one button or menu item called 'Customize' or 'Lock/Unlock panels' or something, that would enable a mode in which you could rearrange things and change each panel's settings.
That's roughly how it could look like with unlocked panels

Each panel would have a gear icon or some other icon giving you access to the panel's settings, and all the draggable panels would have a doted pattern by which they could be dragged. Panels could be stacked in a sidebar or combined with other panels in a tabbed panel (i don't know if this sentence makes sense, but it's late and i will leave it for you guys to figure out :))

Excessive space between items in a list...not so good if you're trying to minimize scrolling...maybe 1x, 1.5x, 2x vertical spacing options?

Maybe MB could detect (at least in windows 10 as it offers this continuum mode) when a device is in a keyboard and mouse mode and present the standard interface in that case, but in touch mode change the scalling/padding on the fly to better fit touch input.
I wonder if microsoft will solve this. The universal apps don't seem to scale their interface and feel a little overblown in traditional desktop mode.

Fantastic work! I really like the artist overview page, it would be a massive improvement over the current one.
