Skins / Need some help modifying a skin
« on: April 06, 2024, 08:15:21 PM »
Hello,

I downloaded a skin and the creator was kind enough to provide the resources. I'm trying it change some elements to my taste. This is how far I got.

I would further like to change:
1- change the colors of player borders. I think they are base64 somewhere. What dimensions does an image has to be for left, right and bottom ? and where to find the element ?
2- get rid of the white line on the left of the search box
3- shrink the seek bar horizontally and align to the center
4- remove the currently playing track and album name on the right side of the player panel.
5- make scrollbars auto hide and only show when mouse is hovered on them.

Would it be possible for any kind soul to lend a little guidance and help me accomplish this task ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

And while I'm here, to all you music lovers out there. Get this while black friday is on, it's a steal

Altec lansing FTW!!!

I think Universal audio also makes Altec lansing emulations but theirs cost more.

You play the music with it, you don't want to turn it off.

Just host Exite audio KHSMR Chain as a 32 bit VST2 inside Musicbee and then host all your various vst2/3 32bit/64 bit plugins inside it.
Works well.

Edit: KSHMR can't host cross architecture stuff. My bad. I work with so much stuff, I forget what does what. Maybe Bidule or Metaplugin ?

Bit of a guess here as I can't see what you are looking at:

Configure Layout > Left Sidebar > Hide Panel

Yeah that was it. Many thanks for the help.

Hello

Thank you for the response, trick works but now I have full fledged browser in it's place. The panel that lists the playlists use to be on the far left with Album veiw in between. I just want to remove that panel and move the playlist management panel on the far left.

Thanks again.

MusicBee Wishlist / Improve the quality of sound
« on: October 15, 2023, 11:46:22 PM »
Hello Steven,

I apologies for making a request knowing well that you are the only dev on this project and you have a real life too. But if you ever find free time and find yourself thinking what cool feature could I add to MB, please do something about the Sound Quality. This is the complain since the beginning when I switched from Winamp and so many years had passed nothing changed to the point I lost all hope.  But here I'm giving another try.

The other day, upon getting the news that AIMP now supports the VST natively without any extensions/plugins so I decided to give it a try. I plugged two of my most used plugins into it and loaded a random album, I'm telling you the truth, when it was playing, I did not wanted to turn it off. That's how good it was. It's the same album I rarely listen in Musicbee, if ever.

MusicBee is phenomenally good software that does things other softwares in the same realm can only dream of.

Please, if you have time, it will elevate MusicBee to the level of "Epic"

Kind regards

Defender is getting stubborn with every new update. If MusicBee's binary isn't digitally signed, smarscreen will block it. If I had to chose between the two, I'll chose Musicbee and dump smartscreen.

Questions / How to remove this panel ?

Hi,

I accidentally pinned the navigator panel on the playlist tab and now can't seem to find an option to unpin it.

Anyone knows how to do this ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks.

Hi -
No I don't have it!
But I will have it very shortly...cheers ;D

No need for any scripts to extract the encoder from iTunes setup as it's already done for you, noted in post #16 by Roby. Just extract the QTFiles in the same folder as Qaac.exe is and you're good to go.

Initially Hofa, but when I realized, after updating bass_vst that controls no longer respond, I tried Fabfilter too with the same result. Once I reverted to old bass_vst from 2018, everything went back to normal.

Questions / Re: Ripping To AAC
« on: September 16, 2023, 10:23:07 AM »
Apple's AAC is superior to Opus in music (higher bitrates)
Opus is superior to Apple's AAC for dialogues (lower bitrates)

The issue with AAC is that not many people learn to get around the Apple's restriction and end up getting FDK, Nero etc which are FAR inferior to Apple's AAC encoder. Had Apple's AAC encoder was publicly available, the opinion would differ by a lot, imo.

Are you referring to a particular VST plugin?  Which one?  By "older one" do you mean an older version of that plugin, or bass_vst.dll?

No, I'm referring to bass_vst

@Steven

The new bass_vst freezing the plugin's state and no amount of knob tweaking and moving sliders making any change. Older one works as expected.

The newest mb_VST.dll has an inaccurate window geometry.

@sveakul thank you for that bass_vst update. But I like my long range barrel plugged into my gun so that when I'm shooting, there's no air gab in between. Same with the VST, I don't want additional tools to be able to get around a shortcoming . I'll submit a request for 64 bit version of Music bee tomorrow, god willing.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Vst holder x64 support
« on: September 14, 2023, 11:25:30 PM »
Most of the companies have long ditched the 32 bit plugins and as if that wasn't enough, the new trend in the industry is to ditch the VST2 as well with only VST3 and AAX being the only choices now. Now only if Avid goes out of business, entire industry will be finally united on one format i.e. 64bit VST3

As this request goes, it is indeed absolutely imperative to get this done given the trends in the music industry as noted above but alas! we only have one developer and he does this in his spare time, I don't have much hope of this request being implemented anytime soon if ever. AIMP, newest version has started supporting VST plugins natively (no need for any plugin or wrapper) and it comes in 64 bit so ut could host 64 bit plugins. MusicBee now asks for .Net 4.8 but doesn't have a 64 bit version is kinda strange, compatibility can't be an issue so what was it to elevate the requirement ? Maybe UI related enhancement. This week 2 other apps I use also added this .Net requirement so I had to scour the Internet and find the older version. Anyways, I suggest you find alternate ways to host VST plugins on your system route Musicbee output through them. I know it's hassle, it's headache but it's the only way forward unless this request gets answered. Also, get yourself VST3Shell, in the very near future (3 years max) VST2 will be memory holed.

Here's one more reason, to fix the plugin

A nasty memory leak.
