I mean, something is seriously wrong if your AppData folder--the one internal and exclusive to the Portable MusicBee folder--is1 GB in size
Uh oh mine is 3.4, and that's after clearing the artwork cache.

Most of it seems to be in ArtistBackdrops, which I'm loathe to delete because many are from the old days when we'd get high-quality artist pictures from last.fm.

Hmmm...after spending the morning trying and failing to make this happen again I'm guessing it was a temporary system issue on my end. Maybe a file was locked by Carbonite during backup or something. Sorry for the bother.

If mods feel it's best to delete the thread to prevent forum clutter and future confusion regarding this non-bug, I'm in favor of that.

Version: 3.6.8858 P

My main auto-playlist dictates the minimum amount of time between plays based on star rating.  4.5-5 stars are eligible to be played again in two weeks, 4 stars in 2 months, 3.5 stars in 4 months, etc.

In other words:
Rating in range 4.5 to 5 AND Last Played not in the last 2w
Rating is 4 AND Last Played not in the last 2m
Rating is 3.5 AND Last Played not in the last 4m

...on down the list

I refreshed the auto-playlist today and noticed a song I had just heard in the list, which should not be possible. The minimum "down time" after a song is played is 2 weeks.  I then sorted the playlist by last played date, and noticed that every song I had listened to today was in the list.  Then there was a gap in last played time and the tracks that should have been in the playlist were there.

I closed and re-opened MB, and those tracks were gone from the list.  The playlist was as it should be with the most recently played tracks being 4.5-5 rated tracks last heard two weeks ago.

It seems that MB is not counting plays from the current session when looking at "Last Played Date" in auto-playlists.

Questions / Re: Cannot find Itunes XML file??

Have you tried searching the drive for iTunes Music Library.xml?  There should probably be two, the one iTunes makes and the one MB makes.

It gets exported to your library folder.

The file is generated when you close MB.  Are you closing MB?

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Crossfade option from bottom panel

It's my understanding that the ability to turn this on or off mid-song would lead to an pretty unpleasant listening experience, as it would restart the playing song.

Questions / Re: "No files added" error

No, I mean the literal "Computer" section in the left panel.

Again, if that is confusing or cumbersome, you can accomplish the same thing the other way around by manually checking the other sections for errant files that really belong in your Music library.

Find them in the Computer node folder structure, right click them and see if the Send To menu shows they're in one of the other sections (Audiobooks, Podcasts).  You can put them back in the music library from there.

Alternately, if they're in a bunch of different folders and it's cumbersome to do it that way, you can manually check the other sections for errant files.

A screenshot of the "Music" page of the device settings would be helpful, as that is where what is and isn't synched to the device is selected.

Also, make sure that all the strange business with your library didn't somehow create a duplicate device.  If so, it's possible that this displayed device is not actually the one being utilized in the sync.

Bug Reports / Re: file permission
« on: April 06, 2024, 02:49:20 AM »
It's now been months and MusicBee still says I do not have permission to access files on my own computer. (As mentioned before, my other players have no problem accessing my music files) WTF
1. You've posted this in an existing thread that is completely unrelated to what you are describing and is here for another purpose.
2. You refused to answer even the most basic questions or follow the troubleshooting steps suggested by the people who tried to help you with this the first time.
3. Your demeanor when asking other users for help is unpleasant.

TheaterMode / Re: My Virtual Tags Stopped Working in Theater Mode

Works great now.  Thanks!

At the very least, this finally got me over to 3.6.

Just for a laugh I went and grabbed the mb_TheaterModePlugin.dll from the "old" 3.5 patch on the Patches site, and it works fine.  At least you can see here what I was going for.

Seems to have gone wrong sometime between last November and now.

Should I delete that comment of mine?
No - I think any commentary forwards the conversation.  I appreciate the other set of eyes on it in any event.

Nope, that's the same result I have.

Your Virtual Tag 1 should be above the first Tindersticks (artist line) and 2, 3 and 4 followed by the rating stars should be below the second (album line).

I tested that the virtual tags give the intended results by adding them as columns in Tracks View.

I haven't touched either the Theater Mode or the Virtual Tags in a very very long time.

The other option available is to check the 'always remove without asking' setting from which point any missing files found (using one of these tools) will result in having their library entries removed automatically (no confirmation window). This setting is common to both the 'startup check' and the 'rescan files' functions.
I cannot figure out a way, within the MusicBee interface, to check if this setting has been enabled, nor to disable it - once checked forever active? Or maybe I'm just not seeing it.
Is it this one?
