Author Topic: "View Settings" to save track browser (& library explorer) settings too  (Read 15017 times)

Say, you want to use a specific settings of track browser (and library explorer) for a certain filter (say, classical music) and another settings for another filter.
It seems that the current "view settings" saves a specific view (artwork, album& tracks, etc.) and column settings only. To save a certain track browser and LE settings, you have to resort to using different "layout settings." But that requires a restart and you don't want to change whole a lot.
Hence it would be great if "view settings" can save track browser & LE settings in addition to the current save. Then users can easily shift to a different track browser & LE settings using filters and auto-playlists. And that change wouldn't matter to those who don't use track browser and LE because the settings will save it simply as being OFF.

Right now it's possible to save different views through the 'copy current view setting to...' option.

But all the different view share the same track browser settng: same number of columns and same column selected.

Would be it possible to select a customized track browser configuration for each customized view? This way, you can associate a Genre/Album Artist track browser for one view, an Album Artist one to another one, a Artist one to one view you want to see every artist (and not only album artist) you have, another one by Year, and so...

Would like for Custom Views to save EVERYTHING related to views/layout, or at least the option to choose elements.

main menu: View/ Saved Settings/Save Settings and Load Settings
the function is quite old so its possible some of the newer settings might have been missed when saving

Oh, great!  Testing that now.  I'd only found the Custom Views settings...

Yes, I know. That's what I referred to as "layout settings" in my original post. I looked into both file formats (view & layout settings) to compare what values are saved. Aside from what settings are missed, layout settings is too much and requires a restart each time to change. On the other hand, MB has a great feature that links up each filter and playlist with a custom view settings. But what's saved in view settings is quite limited. So it seems that a savable settings format in the middle is currently missing. That's why I'm asking adding track browser and LE settings to view settings. Then users can easily navigate different nodes (filters & playlists) with their own customized "view + track browser + LE" settings.

I have been thinking this many times too. I want Album Artist and Album in one view, Composer in another one etc.

I just tried out v18 of J River Media Center and still prefer MB by far.

However, this ONE feature is really something I'd like deeply.
For each filter I use, I'd like to have different browser fields...

So I'd love to see this implemented someday :)

Bumping up this thread.

It would be great to be able to have different track brower configurations in different tabs.

Different track browsers just give MB a different usability in each tab. For example:

With one column, leaving a lot of space for the main panel:

Two columns:

Four columns, including song title in the fourth one:
