i'm not sure what to do about this one - at some point i was going to look at integrating with some radio directory APIs that are available but of course if i have recording built into MB then thats a violation of the terms these APIs have.
However, you can already acheive recording yourself - if you get the Screamer Radio application, you can invoke it to record music via the 'external application' settings in the Services preferences. I know toology did it - you just need to figure out the command line parameters, but i dont think he is on the forum any more.

I'm already using Screamer Radio only for this purpose. I wanted to eliminate last "none MusicBee" application... My wish was one button near the play/pause, stop, next, previous track buttons which will appear only when listening to radio station. After clicking this rec button, setting window will open where user can select encoding options and folder and filename where to save output. Would this be possible to add??

A great service is RadioTime and the API's terms don't prevent you from recording music.

TuneIn Radio, one of the best iPhone radio apps, uses RadioTime and the most recent version added a recording feature.

its funny as i knew i had API access for a radio service and was looking for it last week. Now i have found it!
I think i should be able to implement something in the new few weeks as radio access was one of the things i wanted to improve about MB myself this year

I'm glad You are going to implement the feature. When MB is able to record songs from radio stations, I'll abandon TapinRadio (or install it only to copy and move to MB my favorite stations list  ;) . I was trying to use build in system tool to record songs from Internet radio played with MB but I didn't succeed. Audio editors (mp3directcut and Audacity) recording tools didn't work for me too. There was a little and handy tool for recording radio stations in AIMP before version 2 was released, but it's not distributed today (if you are interested in to have a look on that, I'll try to find it somewhere).

If a radio station informs about currently played song, MB is able to find the cover and lyrics automatically. I like the feature very much  :)
It would be great if the new recording tool for MB had an option to split the songs based on the info given by the station and save them as separate files with artist and title in the file name as well as recognized tags, covers and lyrics  ;D But I'm requesting too much I'm afraid...

Steven, I hope you find the time to implement the recording tool for MB somehow.

This is the feature I'm missing most in MusicBee. Any chance to implement recording radio stations function in the near future  ???

I agree it is a key function.  This method works well:

Of course, would love to see a native plugin that includes recording support for Opus and FLAC stream formats.

Very old thread, but since it has been resurrected, I'll comment.

Although this capability may not be built into MusicBee, it is already available for free and is very simple to do.  Just download Audacity (free and excellent audio recording and editing software).  Audacity can capture anything that is being played on the same computer (although there may be some limitations in certain OSs and with certain audio cards).  It makes no difference what application is being used to play the sound, since the capture is done through speaker loopback or the sound card Stereo Mix function.  Once the file is recorded, you can edit it in any way you like, then export it in just about any format.

The operation is virtually identical to recording from LP or tape, except you do not need any external audio input.  I export my audio tracks directly into the MusicBee library, and the file structure and identification tags are handled automatically.

If you want more information, start a thread in the General Discussion forum and we can talk about it there.
