As computer screens get wider, vertical space has become more valuable than horizontal one. So how about offering slim layout option for the main player?
No need to design from the scratch, just use the current narrow mini player layout.
Current sidebar player controls could do the same, but it can't show enough player controls and playing track text in a narrow panel.
