This is a method using a very handy tool which uses imgur.

Download and install the application: imgur uploader

After installation, when right-clicking a previously saved image (in our case, screenshot) you can select 'send to Imgur' from the context menu.

Then under 'choose a format', select 'Message Board Lines', and then click 'copy upload information to clipboard'.

Paste that link in your post and you're done.

edit:

There have been reports that this tool is not working correctly anymore.
Also it has not been maintained or updated for a long time now, so I thought to post a short tutorial on how to use ShareX as a very good alternative:

Feel free to add this to the wiki page, if you want.  More methods can only help.

I did have a look at that yesterday, but I couldn't find a section in the wiki about posting and using the forum.
Is it my lack of navigation skills, or isn't there one?

There's not a "section", but the screenshots page is targeted at the forum

I'm very fond of PicPick (free for personal use) for taking screenshots, editing them (to highlight stuff, remove personal info, etc.) and uploading them
MusicBee 3.5.8516 / Windows 10 (64-bit) / Intel i5-3470 / 8GB RAM
Media on NAS (CIFS share)
20K+ tracks, predominantly FLAC ; converted to mp3 (lame -V 0) when synced to a Cowon D2+

...and for animated gifs, LICEcap seems like a very nice tool.

+1 for ShareX
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.
