  • Long live OiNK!
Forgive my ignorance but afaik WAV is an inferior alternative to FLAC since it's uncompressed but offers nothing that FLAC doesn't. Is this anything like the same except for mp3?
RIP OiNK

LossyWav can be used as a preprocessor when transcoding from wav to flac, wavpack or tac. It doesn't make the wav file smaller, just changes the least significant bit in a way that makes the wav file more compressible by some lossless codecs, keeping the transparancy (in most cases).
Anyway, it is 'lossy', because the result is not bit by bit equal to original wav file.

the new version requires new parameters. You can set them in the File Converter preferences
instead of:
"--portable" use "--quality P"
"--extreme" use "--quality E"

Doesn't work for me. Could someone please give me the settings for lossywav in the convertor parameters for ALAC.

Quality presets for lossyWAV 1.3
(Safe to use, should be updated accordingly in MB File Converter preferences when new lossyWAV version is included into MB 2.1 package):

I think it is worth updating lossyWAV to the latest version available before the final release.
Other external components could be updated as well.

i would rather not at this point because they changed the command line parameters and i think it will just lead to confusion and problems for existing users.

Thanks for the info  :)

I understand and don't use it personally, but bumped this topic just to make sure you haven't forgotten about this.
