Author Topic: genre category to ignore capitals/casing  (Read 2710 times)

For a genre to be recognized in a genre category, currently the use of capitals must match.
Eg. "Rock" will be categorized in genre category "Rock", but "rock" will not.

It would be nice if this would work independent on the use of casing/capitals.

Things like EBM seem to get rendered as Ebm when downloaded from last.fm.

(Would be really nice if it recognized things like hip hop, hip-hop, and hiphop as being the same, but I imagine that would be complicated.)

working fine here and from the code i see no reason for it not match on the casing being exactly right. Perhaps there is a mis-spelling "0" instead of "o" or some spaces somewhere

I double checked with Rock, rock.
And also with A capella, a capella.

Could it maybe be something dependent on e.g. regional settings or diacretics?

I'm at another computer now with similar settings, and there it's working perfectly fine.
I'll check tomorrow on the other one again if something funny is going on, and if I really didn't make a mistake there.

I found the cause.

I made some edits through the Genre Categorisation Editor and saved them.
After that it will not match any genres if there is a difference in capitalization.

A simple restart of MB solves it.
