It would be nice to have an 'always on top' display option for the compact player.
(so it's never covered beneath other active Windows applications)

With the freeware autohotkey you can do it for any window you like

I use it for seeing the browser over MB,  leaving the main player controls visible acting like a miniplayer
this is the code for using Win+T for toggling it
Code
;Windows+T Activa/desactiva el Always on top
#t::WinSet, AlwaysOnTop, Toggle,A

unless i misunderstand you, you can already do this.  switch to compact player then click the bee icon in the top left....

Another Amazing Discovery ;-)

SimonBRT, thank you for a very useful tip  :) I was going to add this feature to the wishlist, but I did a forum search before (as usual).

Little OT, but maybe someone find it useful:

To make most of my Windows applications always visible on the top of other apps I just pin them with AnVir Task Manager (http://www.anvir.com/) The feature is available in the free edition as well. This is very useful as there are 4 additional buttons next to the Minimize button on the top right corner of every window. The buttons allow you to:
1) Roll the window up; - this can make your desktop clean very fast ;-)
2) Create a floating icon of the application;
3) Minimize to tray;
4) Pin the window to be visible on the top.

I have AnVir Task Manager Free 7.5.2 installed on Windows 7 64bit, but unfortunately I can't use the 4 additional buttons with MB when the option: 'Skin Window Borders' is enabled. Otherwise, it works great with 99% of the software.
Just try it and find out by yourself if it's useful for you.

I'd like to see this option too. Maybe there could be a small "pin" button that you push to toggle the setting on and off.

I have a high res monitor so I can have the compact player in the top-right like this without it getting in the way all that much: -

Being able to pin it so it doesn't lose focus would be great.

It's already there. See SimonBRT's post above.

So it is! That'll teach me for just skimming a couple of the posts instead of reading them properly.  ;D

Cheers mate.

Yeah, it's not apparent at first glance the bee icon has another menu. It's MB's another "hidden" feature.
If you haven't yet, have a look at the following thread:

Thanks again!

BTW, should this happen when switching to "always on top" mode? Notice that the taskbar button "goes out" as if MusicBee is no longer even running: -

Looks like a bug. On my Vista machine, it disappears from task bar and reappears if I minimize and restore MB.

Likewise for me. But because of that focus bug I reported, MusicBee can get stuck in "always on bottom" mode instead of always on top, as demonstrated in this video: -

A full description of that video is in the bug report thread.

the taskbar icon is turned off intentionally when "Always on top" is enabled. I admit that doesnt seem the intuitive behavior if you have the MB icon pinned. I guess originally it made more sense with XP and perhaps it should be revisited, although whenever i change something like this there is always someone who has some reason for it to work the way it does!
