Hi.

Fortunately it's easy to make suggestions here, but of course this will cause a lot of work, so I hope anyone will read this and think about it.
I searched the web but found nothing and I also was not expecting since I've never seen such a feature. I have this idea for quite a time and it is pretty simple:
Everytime a Track is going to end a small window pops up with a message like"Don't forget to rate this title." and the possibility to rate the Track in this window. This window obviously should not pop up if a game or something like this is running or if the track is already rated. Also it should not kick you out of a text programm but this mybe could be hard to make. However of course the feature should be easy to activate and deactivate.
If you keep thinking about this "simple" idea you could end up in a more complex one wich will remind you to rate the album and lists recently heard titles and gives you the ability to hear about 30 seconds of a track to rate it and so on and so fourth.
For me it would be most important that the window will automaticaly close after you set your rating so the rating will only take a second and a single click.

I was always looking for such a feature because I forget to rate almost everytime so I never had a lot of ratings so I never know wich tracks I like if I don't know the names. That's my suggestion, hope you'll think about it and decide that it's worth a try.

I like the first part of this wish, maybe i would add a condition for it being listened at least a defined number of times. That could be more convenient than using smartplaylist.

Of course we can create a smart playlist with these conditions but it would require to relisten these tracks.

I just had an idea, go to Edit\Preferences\Tags 2\Highlighting

I have created this law:

Having in mind very few people use to rate all the tracks, that seeing this window too many times could be disturbing, and looking for simplicity in the code i think we could easily ask Steven to colour the background of the Musicbee button in the taskbar of windows 7 to use the same colour than the highlighting law for the now playing track.

I did a mockup:

I'm sorry, is my current version out of date? It's 2.0.4663; auto update check is on so I think it's the newest version. But I'm unable to find "Highlighting" in Tags (2). Here is a screenshot:

Am I blind or is it realy not there?

However this would be a good solution I think, so thank you for your assistance.

Automatic update checks only look for official stable releases, which don't come out very often. The latest beta version is 2.1.x, and includes the colour highlighting. You can get a fairly recent copy from the Beta thread:

Or look through some of the more recent Wishlist forum threads for a link to an even more recent version.
Bee excellent to each other...

A trick for finding the latest patch is from the latest posts from Steven: http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1;sa=showPosts
Now is http://musicbee.niblseed.com/V2_1/MusicBee_Exe_Patched.zip for applying it, unzip it in the musicbee folder

Ah okay, thanks a lot for these links.

But I think I misunderstand this feature. I've set the rule "Rating is '0,0', Play Count > 0" and played the same (unrated) title a few times now, but still can't see any effect. How exactly does it work and where will the highlighting be visible?
However the idea with the highlighted taskbar button sounds nice, would love to see that.

rated with 0 stars is one thing and not rated is another, in my rule i used rating has no value. Here is the thread for highlighting rules: http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=7751.new#new

Okay, finaly got it. Thank you for your patience. What I thought was 0,0 = 0 = null, it can be confusing if you have no idea about everything behind the UI...
Anyway, thank you very much for your help.
