Hi Steven,

Is there any chance that you will provide remapping capabilities for the iPod? iTunes partial implementation of Album Artist really has my music out of sorts on the iPod, especially classical, and some pop music where the album is by one artist, but has featured guests. I don't want to have to retag my music files, so that they show up properly on the iPod. I put a lot of time & effort into tagging my music properly. As much as I like my iPod as hardware, I really hate how Apple implements tagging and such, so half-assed.

Here are the pertinent tags to a particular mp3 file:

TPE1      Artist         Philadelphia Orchestra
TSOP      ArtistSortOrder      Philadelphia Orchestra
TALB      Album         Swan Lake & Sleeping Beauty Suites
TSOA      AlbumSortOrder      Swan Lake & Sleeping Beauty Suites
TCOM      Composer         Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky
TSOC      ComposerSortOrder      Tchaikovsky, Piotr Ilitch
TPE2      Album Artist      Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky
TSO2      AlbumArtistSortOrder      Tchaikovsky, Piotr Ilitch
TPE3      Conductor         Muti, Riccardo

As this file is tagged, the iPod’s Coverflow shows this as:

Swan Lake & Sleeping Beauty Suites
Philadelphia Orchestra

If I could remap “Artist” to “AlbumArtistSortOrder” the file would be sent to the iPod and show as:

Swan Lake & Sleeping Beauty Suites
Tchaikovsky, Piotr Ilitch

Or remap “Album” to “’Album’ – ‘Conductor”’, I would then see:

Swan Lake & Sleeping Beauty Suites - Muti, Riccardo
Tchaikovsky, Piotr Ilitch
