I have an artist which has ellipses (...) at the beginning of its name. I can't say it's a bug, so I'm wondering if this can be implemented for other artists that have special characters, but have alphanumeric characters following it.

So, for instance:

...A Foobar Cool Name for a Band is listed at the bottom of the alphanumerical list. I'm hoping that ...A Foobar Cool Name for a Band would be placed in A (or even F, if one ignores the preposition "A" as well).

(I feel like a grammar nerd right now).

Yes, but where are you going to find one at this time of day ;)

In Preferences>Tags (2)> Ignore words, you can put them in there for filtering out in Artist, Title and Album tags.

just be aware that it treats each group of characters as separate words, so .. is different to ...

I tried that before I made this post, but nothing happens when I include ellipses (or any other special character) in that section. It seems to only recognize alphanumeric characters.

That's strange, cause I use it to filter out those same things on mine  ???

Here's the name of the artist:
…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead

I just added ellipses with quotes, no change.

worked it out
the ellipsis in the Artist name is not made up of three periods
It's a special character.
Copy and paste into the list, restart, and all OK

Did all of the following... still no change. I think it may be something wrong with my configuration I guess. I don't know. You've been great help so far Bee-liever!!!

Its got me stumped  ???

I pulled a track from my Inbox and duplicated it. Changed the Artist and Album Artist to …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and moved  it the library.
MB puts it right there between Anastacia and André Andreo

Bizarre or what!

adding ... to the ignore list strips it correctly when sorting in my testing as well, nor can i see any reason why it wouldnt work. Perhaps post a screenshot of your settings

Well... I guess I'm just really dense. Everything has been solved. I just copied the list from Bee-liever, but didn't actually follow what he wrote. Now all is well. Sorry for this long topic :(
