Dear developers :)

First of all, I'd like to say that MusicBee is by far my FAVORITE music player.

Now, with that out of the way I'd like to add a suggestion that I think a lot of people would appreciate:
the ability to use Beatport.com as a source for auto-tagging tracks

How awesome would that be?

Here's an example of a website that currently draws from beatport's releases: http://yadg.cc/
The site gathers information from the release url you provide, then formats the artist, album, track name, etc so that you can post it onto an forum and have it look nice and neat. I'm sure there's something that could work along those lines and be implemented into MusicBee just like MusicBrainz and Discogs are currently. This would be so very helpful in tagging songs which have mismatched tags, but aren't on MusicBrainz or Discogs.

Let me know what you think!

Cheers,
Alan

Did you find some track in the 1.1 million track database of beatport that was not available in the 9.8 million track database of MusicBrainz? Just saying  ::)

Besides EchoPrint sounds much more promising  ;)

woah. Echoprint sound awesome! Yeah nevermind. The only thing I like about Beatport is that it's information is nearly 100% accurate. It's like iTunes, but for better music  ;)

Speaking of which, since iTunes puts up all their releases on a website... you think importing those tags would work?

i'm happy to add beatport as they have an official api and seems straight forward

i think echo print is for identifying tracks with digital sound analysis whereas beatport is more useful for when you know the artist and title already

Exactly! I forgot to mention that.

Oh and here's their api website

Those are terrific news   :)

The only thing bugging, why is the link to Beatport's Terms of Use / Privacy Policy broken?

Just realised, that the remix field is not transferred properly.

I autotagged this release:
http://www.beatport.com/search?query=Why+Dont+You+Change+%2F+Dub+Man+Walking

The track called "Krishnamurti (Acappella Extended)" gets tagged as "Krishnamurti", seems like they provide the remix artist/mixname in a different field. It would be great if you can store this data in the ID3-tag called MIXARTIST or append it to the original track name.

Cheers,
Tim

Edit:
Just had a look at the API: There is an extra field for that:
mixName (string): The mix/remix name of the track.
http://api.beatport.com/catalog-object-structures.html#track

So it would be great to append this remix string to the original trackname AND to store it in the MIXARTIST field :)
