Hello,

I'm using Roboto Flex as a custom font in MusicBee. https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Roboto+Flex

Unfortunately it renders uncentered vertically (it's too low)

The misalignment is visible even right away in the font selection dialog:

That indicates it's a font issue, not a bug in Musicbee. You need to take that up with google.

Maybe they went too far fixing this persons issue...

Sorry. I should have thought of that.
It's such an ubiquitous font that I assumed it was an issue with MusicBee.

This sparks some questions:

#1 Do you have alternatives you recommend? So far I tried these and they're not bad at all:

#2 Are there possible workarounds? I tried to edit the font myself without success. It seemed pretty complex to do but maybe some of the wizards here know how to deal with such things.

#3 Is there potential for MusicBee to allow custom alignment to compensate for different fonts?

What about the standard Roboto, looks pretty similar to me.

I'm currently using Gadugi, I do like a nice sans serif font.

Edit: No idea regarding points #2 and #3, but the fonts from #1 look good to me, no idea if they will display properly though, you could try them.

It depends if you need to display specific scripts or diacritics. Another frequent criterion is the shape of the digits (constant lining?, constant width?). The rest is rather a matter of taste.

My favourite sans sérif typeface for MB is Open Sans, for its readability, proportions and line spacing. The digits have constant lining + constant width. Pan-European.

Windows 10 sans sérif typefaces, all pan-European (Latin + Cyrillic + Greek alphabets):
  • Bahnschrift
  • Calibri
  • Candara
  • Corbel
  • Segoe UI
  • Tahoma
  • Trebuchet
  • Verdana

You'll find below a bunch of typefaces not shipped with Windows, which are easy on the eye and free.
They are all available on Google Fonts, except:
- Aptos (freely available from Microsoft's site) and
- Lorenzo Sans, improved rebrand of Clear Sans

EDIT: Clear Sans -> Lorenzo Sans
