Hello, everyone! I hope this message finds you well!

This problem is difficult to search for an answer for, because most people assume I'm talking about duplicates of the same file that's located on the computer. That's not what I'm looking for. I have a large playlist where many of the songs were errorously added twice. And I wish to remove them. For some reason the "Duplicate track detected - do you want to add the track to this playlist?" confirmation prompt didn't work and some entries were added anyway. This means the Tools>Manage Duplicates (although an incredibly useful and powerful tool) will not work in this situation.

Is there a way I can remove these double entries automatically?

Manage Duplicates is only for use for the overall collection. It wouldn't make sense for it to be able to detect duplicates in playlists.

Select a playlist and if necessary, switch to Track Details view. Click on the Title header to sort by the track name. Or if you want to sort by multiple fields such as Title and Artist, click on the first sort, and holding down the control key, click on the second field. You'll see a "1" and a "2" in the header. Now start scrolling and you should see duplicates that have the same title. Or same title and artist.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

Load your playlist.  After it comes up, right-click anyplace in the list and select 'List' then select 'Remove Duplicates'.

That seemed to do it! Thank you very much!

I appreciate the helpful instructions and the picture was a good touch! It makes me a little nervous that there was no confirmation prompt before I allowed the program to do something so drastic, but everything seems to still be in place. Thank you again. You saved me a lot of tedious sorting!
