I'm a little bit puzzled by how the tabs work.  Some work as I would expect, such as Tracks or Artists, but the Album Cover tabs confuse me. I have a tab called Albums, which I set to Sort by "Album" and Group By "Album", a tab called Genres, which I set to Sort by "Album" and Group By "Genre", and a tab called Years which I set to  Sort by "Year" and Group By "Year".

But then when I switch back to my Genre tab it is grouped by Years, not genre.  It seems that the "Group By" setting affects all the Album Cover tabs at once - is this right?

If so, what is the point of the Genres tab?

(Otherwise I love the app - coming from Windows Media Player I feel like I've sold my Ford Escort and upgraded to a Tesla!)

Yes it is. That's the intended and expected behaviour.

If you want tabs making use of a single view (Album Covers, in your case) to remember their own grouping fields, you need to use custom views instead.
You can read about them in detail here: https://musicbee.fandom.com/wiki/Main_Panel_Views#Custom_Views

Thanks so much! It took a little bit of fiddling to make the Custom Views but now it works a treat!
