I have a large random playlist that I play in the background while I work.
The issue that I'm having is that MusicBee will ONLY save the currently playing song when I close it
But when I shutdown the PC with MusicBee running, it will start back up on the first song that played previously
To avoid confusion...MusicBee will start on track 1, I play 5 songs then restart my PC, instead of starting on track 5, it goes back to track 1

What am I missing?

What happens if you stop playback, exit MB and then shut down the PC?

You shouldn't be shutting down Windows with MB (or any apps) still running.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

It remembers the location IF I remember to close MB
I've shutdown my PCs with apps running, and have no issues
I agree that I should close stuff down, but sometimes that doesn't happen
If this is by design then thats fine
I will use WinAmp for background music on random, and MusicBee when I listen to albums

the latest v3.5 patch version should address saving MB correctly on PC powerdown
https://getmusicbee.com/patches/MusicBee35_Patched.zip
unzip and replace the existing musicbee application files
