It's not just you, and that's because no one would in reality want to sort by the order in which the tracks were added to the playlist in Album and Tracks view.

That's a shame, I find that view a direct upgrade to the Tracks view and use it for my playlists.

If you like that view, that's great.  The different views are there to be enjoyed.

My comment was specifically that there's no apparent value to ordering the tracks by when they were added to the playlist, thus breaking up the albums and negating the purpose of the view, while using it.

Going back to the original post, +1

I think it makes perfect sense to have the options of Sort Ascending and Sort Descending work with Manual Order. It would be more intuitive than having to add an additional column (# in Tracks view). Besides, it'd allow users to do so in other views in which the # column isn't available (Album and Tracks)

I am using the 'Midnight' skin, though it behaves the same with any other skin. The hashtag never appears in the header. The third column is for the playing indicator

Another related issue I've been having is that for playlists sorted by date added, when syncing to my phone, the songs in the exported playlists do not appear in the same order as they are in musicbee. I have to always do "List" > "Update play order" before starting the sync, which obviously I forget every time.

Adding tracks on top could be implemented to actually insert them on top in the real list, not just change the way it is displayed. That would solve this issue as well.
