can you do it again and include a restart after rescanning
you should see "artwork removed" somewhere

i'm not sure what you are doing
can you
1. start MB
2. rescan the files for C:\Users\Public\Music\CD\D31 - Classique.(Divers)\Voix\Concerto de Natal no Mosteiro de São Bento {PQPBach}.0\
3. exit MB
4. restart MB
and send me all the entries from step 1 onwards

Ok, done.
Started a new ErrorLog.dat in MusicBee\AppData,
the whole content is in ErrorLog.3C.dat.

Strange behaviour: after restart, the album cover is kept...

Strange behaviour: after restart, the album cover is kept...
... but vanishes again at the next restart.

In
ErrorLog.XMAS.3D=refresh,restart,restart.DAT
you have the complete log for
* start (artwork absent)
* album refresh
* close
* start (artwork present)
* close
* start (artwork absent)

i have an idea of what is going wrong - do you have "check for updates and missing files" enabled in the library preferences and the problems files are not in a monitored folder?

A screen copy of my library options is in Clipboard3.jpg:

* UNCHECKED: on startup check for updated or missing files
* "Concerto de Natal" is in the monitored folders

* Close
* Start -> covers absent

Steven, I've found a hint, and a workaround.

While trying to find common features of the problem albums, I noticed that each concerned folder contains a subfolder named (DOC), storing some documentation about the recordings/works/artists.

After moving those (DOC) folders to other locations and refreshing, the problem ceased. In the same stride, I created a (DOC) subfolder in another album folder, => that album lost its cover, too. However, removing the parentheses from the subfolder name stopped the problem.

Thus, so far, the bug seems to show up if there is a subfolder name STARTING with '(' or ')', whereas there is nothing wrong with parentheses elsewhere in the name (middle, end). Moreover, the bug wasn't present in former 3.4/3.5 builds.

A peculiar case, isn't it?

=> ErrorLog.XMAS6.dat

Actions done, with subfolder '(DOC)' present in "Concerto de Natal...":

* Start MB, refresh "Concerto de Natal..."
* Restart (=> cover present)
* Restart (=> cover absent)
