Currently, you can click the column header to sort, or right click it and use the 'sort by' menu entry.
My usual layout is two or three screens wide, so if I want to sort by something off the screen I have to manually scroll, click the column, then scroll back.
Could the right click > sort by... menu have an additional section that just mirrors whatever fields are currently set to display in the current view?
