Author Topic: 1. Drop Shadow for Artwork - 2. Dual-Screen Support  (Read 5860 times)

Well, first I want to say that I'm impressed of the many good features implemented quite seamlessly.

1.) Another nice feature would be drop shadow support for Artwork as it makes viewing albums much more appealing for the eye.
2.) One should consider integrating dual-screen support.
     Example: You host a party at your place. While having the actual PC with one screen in your kitchen, you have a second monitor mounted in your living room. The first screen shows the usual interface of MusicBee, the second one utilizes a special Media View which is fullscreen and only shows information about the current song (artist, album, lyrics)  and the name of the next upcoming songs.

Thumbs up for this good piece of software.

I made this proposal once before: I think that dropshadows in the gridview would be a nice thing.

You can view an example of what I mean here: http://musicbee.amasongs.de/index2.html

I agree with the drop shadows, despite being a minor cosmetic addition, it really would give a polished look.

Dropshadow for bright skins...
Glow for dark skins...

That's  the same thing, just the second one is white and has a distance of 0.

I don't want to appear impatient  :)

But are there any plans to integrate dropshadows in the near future?

cooljazz, if its important to you then you and MB doesnt give you want you want as-is now, you are probably going to need to look at alternatives as I only do this in my spare time and it can be some time before i am able to look at requests.
Songbird is a great looking player that a lot of people like so you could check that out

Steven, I love musicbee as it is right now :) . It is all the way perfect concerning management and playback quality.
That you as its developer give it away for free and that you give the users a chance to pronounce wishes is more than any of us including me can ask of.
The dropshadow is as everything else just a simple request and it is entirely up to you, what you do with it.  I didn't want to be pushy or anything like this. So if I caused any inconvenience, I apologize for that. I wasn't intending that.

But if you just may give me one more chance to illustrate where I'm coming from? :

MusicBee right now has a mono color background for the gridview. In the Windows-Skin for example this color is almost white.
The covers of albums are displayed on this background. As a result it is hard to see the borders of albums if those a bright and impossible if they are white.

The same is true for a black/dark background and black/dark albums.

In this example you can see what I mean.

The solution to this problem is a dropshadow:

but even a simple line around the cover will do the job.

Hi, there is a element in the skinfiles
<settings>
  <element id="UseArtworkBorders">false</element>
<settings>
most skins did not use it - maybe you like to play around with it
you can place it before the picture-part starts

Thanks for the hint. I'll try that.

Edit: It works. Thanks again  :D
