Date Modified

For quite some time I've been under the impression that when using the Tag Editor that the 'date modified' field in Properties, does not (or should not) change.

I just changed the title of an album, first in the Tag Editor, and then in  the Computer Node and when looking at the properties tab of the Tag Editor,  the date modified has been modified. If I had only changed the title in the Tag Editor, would the date modified stayed as it was? Or was changing the title in the Computer Node that caused it to change?

And if the date modified remains persistent, will the album title change be picked up when I sync via WiFi? Or is the date modified what the sync is looking for when determining what needs syncing?
