Using 3.4.8011

Using MB I save a number of tags within a MP3 track or tracks and click 'save.' All the tags appear except the Title. If I rescan the file(s) the title appears. If I open the Tag Editor, the title shows,  when I save/close the Tag Editor (with or without changes to the title) the title once again disappears. The Tag Inspector does not show the title even when I shows in the Tag Editor. Manually entering it in the Tag Inspector, updating, saving, and closing the Tag Editor it's not there until I rescan the file(s). And then it disappears again and isn't in the Tag Inspector.

Again - all the other tags remain and display as entered whether or not they're edited. It's only the title tag that's funky.

I have tried this with a number of older files and get the same behavior. None of the files are Read-Only or MB wouldn't be saving the other tags.

I have rolled back to 3.4.8001, which wasn't exhibiting this behavior yesterday, is now doing the same thing. Exiting and restarting MB doesn't change anything. Rebooting the PC and then starting MB showed the title until I opened the Tag Editor. The title was there until I saved it and then it disappeared until I did a file rescan. But it's not really there. And it's not in the Tag Inspector.

I also doesn't matter which view I'm using.

I've been pulling out my hair for the past hour or so and it makes no sense at all.

Thanks.

Some random fuzzy and unfocussed thoughts:

Are the files on a local drive, or on a network?
Any other software possibly having a grasp on the files?
Have you tried:
Tools > Advanced > Compress Library
Restarting MusicBee
Restarting your PC (and/or server)
Renewing the contracts with your energy and internet providers
Buying a wig
Burning down the house

Some random fuzzy and unfocussed thoughts:
- At this point they're in MB's Inbox, which is on a local drive. Once (I thought) they were tagged, I moved them to my NAS where all the rest of my music files live. That's when I first noticed the issue. I removed them from the NAS and got them back to the Inbox, where the problem continues.
- No other software running that could be locking the files. Besides - other tags are being saved and displaying properly.
- I just compressed the library and there is no change.
- MB has been restarted a number of times.
- PC has been shut down and rebooted.
- I'm currently on hold with my local electric company and it appears my Internet provider is out of business.
- Should the wig be brown, black, gray, or blonde?
- I don't have any matches, so the house remains.

Thanks for your alleged thoughts.

phred:  if you look at the files with Mp3tag/Kid3/etc. do the titles (and rest of the tags) show up correctly there?  If they do not, and you add the data using the external tagger (and rescan in MB of course), do they "stay" after that?

do you have a advanced tag tools rule that causes that?

ARRGGG!
Thanks Steven. I had a preset enabled to automatically be applied. I must've ticked it accidentally when last using Advanced Search & Replace.
I should've realized that when the issue was happening even on older files.
-AND- it was the last thing I used before the problem appeared.

Thanks again.

I only put the part of my brain that was concerned with your futile issues to sleep.
The other 99,9% is alive & kicking and never sleeps.
