There is another thread regarding playlist item management, which got me thinking to this:

The reason I really want to be able to quick-remove items from a playlist is because it interferes with using the playlist name as a value in the file organiser window - when an item is in two playlists, if I use <playlist> as a value I get both as a string.

That said, I don't want to fillet my personal playlists to organise the adjacent 10k+ item genre/artist/label lists I also have going.

My workaround is to just move certain playlists out of the folder on the disk, do stuff, then move them back.

Could there be an option to just mark any given playlist (or folder of playlists) as "ignored" by the file organiser?

I don't see this as being very practical to implement and maintain. I would suggest using a custom tag instead of playlist names for your organization. You might even be able to base it on <Playlist>, I haven't tested but it's worth a shot.

I have tried forming a virtual tag, but since my need is based on working with folders of playlists, I couldn't see any way of working with a playlist folder (and the playlists it contains)

The <Playlist> tag does not display folder information only the playlist name as far as I can tell.  Can't perform a function on data that isn't there  >_<

I really do think you're best off with a custom tag, then. In fact, I use custom tags to generate most of my playlists as auto-playlists. You might consider whether that would be an easier solution for you.

I think this was probably a decision I should have RTFM'd a bit more 1500 playlists ago. :D

The work around is fine for the few times I need this. Thanks
