Music as a relaxation tool is certainly nothing new. Decades of research have found that the right tune can decrease blood pressure, slow heart rate, and even curb anxiety. Do you believe it based on your personal experiences?

Based on personal experience, I can only say that when I have really bad periods in my life, I don't want to listen to relaxation music at all. I want to listen to something that can break you even more, but at the same time you understand that someone was experiencing the same thing, that they understand you and that you can cope with it too. I just want to cry, scream, and it seems like it becomes easier to get through everything

Yes, I was diagnosed with severe anxiety/OCD and music is a big help in dealing with the illness. Nothing like going for a long walk while listening to your favourite tunes.

Sorry for necroing, but speaking from personal experience, I've struggled with anxiety for years, and including music in my coping mechanisms has been helpful.

During therapy sessions, my therapist introduced me to the idea of using music in relaxation exercises, and it's been remarkably effective. Whether it's calming instrumental pieces or soothing melodies, music can shift my mood and quiet the racing thoughts in my mind.

Moreover, listening to music while engaging in other anxiety-reducing activities like running amplifies the benefits. It creates a harmonious synergy that enhances the overall sense of relaxation and well-being.

Music also helps me fall asleep better. Listening to calming music or ambient sounds before bedtime improves my ability to fall asleep faster and enjoy a more restful night. For this, I use an app called Calmer. My favorites are the sounds of the gentle rustle of leaves, the sound of raindrops, and soft piano melodies, among others.
