When I reset plays it initially works but when closing out and starting up musicbee the plays reset instead of staying at zero.

Select all---reset plays

fairly straightforward but it's not working for me.

What version of MB are you using? (Help > About)
How was MB installed? (Installer, Portable, Store)
Make sure you have read/write permission in the directory where MB is installed.
Try launching MB as administrator.
Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

Version 3.3.7491

I used the standard installer. Tried running as administrator but the issues persists. Maybe I should uninstall and start fresh?

I would suggest the Portable version. And put it in a non-Windows controlled directory. Such as x:\MusicBee. You can get 3.4 from the first forum topic.
