Having moved over to a Mac for all sorts of boring and unpleasant reasons, I've spent days frying to find a music manager with anything near the functionality of MB. And I failed. Apple Music is horrible, and won't play my flac files. And the other apps available are either pricey, or just rubbish. After a week of looking and tryingh different solutions, I was about to give up.

Out of desperation, and because I found the Mac versions of Office 365 apps to be crappy imitations, I downloaded VMware Fusion (free licence for private individuals), bought a cheap Win10 licence (not really necessary), and then installed MB, just for the hell of it. Reloaded my library, started play, and as I kinda expected, the sound was terrible, all broken up and laggy.

By pure fluke, I came across this post on reverting the VM audio drivers to Vista: https://www.applevis.com/guides/fixing-vmware-fusion-audio-latency-problems-windows-10

It took me a while to get it all sorted. Ran MB again, and stone the crows, it bloody works. It's flippin' perfect!

Despite the fact my library is on a NAS, playback seems faultless. I'll be soak-testing it over the next few weeks, but honestly, so far, so good.

So for all those Mac users desperate for a Mac version of Musicbee, this is the way forward. If anything, it seems to run faster on a VM on my Mac than it did on my old PC. So far, no negatives at all.

Give it a try.
